I've had 10.4.6 on my toshiba tecra m7 tablet laptop for a while now, running in a very unstable manner. It takes several attempts to boot, most of the time kernel panicking on a "local apic error" and when I do manage to boot, the slightest thing will make it crash. I decided to install 10.4.8 to see if this would help and to try titan/natit. However, when attempting to boot the dvd, I get a "local apic error" immediately after the regents of california part of booting. I have tried several different kernel options, including -v -x idlehalt=0 platform=X86PC and fn=3 in different combinations. I have also switched between device manager settings of "setup by os" and "all devices" as this seemed to get sound working on 10.4.6. Here are my system specs:

Toshiba Tecra M7 Tablet

Intel Core Duo 2400 2.0ghz

1 GB ram

80 GB hd

NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M

I am dual booting with XP using the darwin bootloader. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions of getting it working I would be very grateful.

I have the same laptop with the same problems. I've tried the JaS Intel Only SSE3 and the AMD/Intel SSE2 SSE3, and get random kernel panics. Most of the time it happens at the same place as the original poster. I've checked the HCL on the wiki and have seen people running it on this notebook, and the forum search didn't help. Anyone have an idea?
