NemesysSRT
Let me know if you manage to get it working on your laptop, I've got essentially the same machine, a Gateway Mx6454 and I've been just too damn lazy to try and install it. matulike
Hi, Well, I've been trying to install onto my new laptop, but just having huge problems! I hgave installed 10.4.7 on my PC (dual booting with XP) and it went smooth as you like and have had no real problems... This laptop...grrr! It's just not working. Have tried 10.4.7 and 10.4.8. It installs fine (without a VGA cab;le plugged in too I might add) but when I start it up after install, it goes through the username config, IP settings etc, then just goes to the blue background and the mouse pointer is there but nothing else. Tried over and over, with VGA and without. My laptop is: Dell Latitude D820 Intel Centrino Duo (T7400 @ 2.16Ghz) Nvidia Quadro NVS 110M Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit NIC Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Im not aware of any incompatibhility issues - although I was directed to a link about D820s which gave some instructions (which I followed) to be performed after installation. These instructions: Dell Latitude D820 - JaS 10.4.8 SSE 3 - CPU : Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz (only works with cpus=1) - 2.0 GHz RAM @ 667MHz Speed detected correctly after newest kernel update - NVidia Quadro NVS 110M 128MB Dedicated + 128MB Shared QE/CI working with Titan. Runs native res: 1920x1200 Detected as Go 7300 - SigmaTel 9220 does not work so bought TurtleBeach Audio Advantage Micro - Broadcom 57xx shows up after broadcom 57xx fix, but after using for about 1-2 min panics kernel - Dell TrueMobile 1490 works after the en0 -> en1 fix - Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth works after Apple Developers USB patch for 10.4.8 - USB works after above mentioned patch - Battery Life shows up after powermanagment.bundle is replaced - Trackpad, Trackpoint, and Keyboard work perfectly, Sound controls at top of keyboard respond as volume and mute buttons. Note: To install JaS 10.4.8 DVD after you install it you need to boot back to CD and run terminal and type this: mount -uw / cd /volume/(system volume)/system/library/extensions/ rm -R IOPCCardFamily.kext rm -R ApplePCCard16ATA.kext rm -R ApplePCCardATA.kext shutdown -r now now when you boot hit f8 and type in cpus=1 and voula you're in OSX 10.4.8. -Postmastagen I did all of that, but still no worky ( Really annoying seeing as I have 10.4.7 running so well on my PC. I just wanted to get it going on this laptop cos the spec is so much higher+I wanted to see how it runs! Well, if anyone has nay experience with this or any ideas, I#d love to hear them! Thanks in advance! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/39074-can-it-be-installed-on-my-notebook/#findComment-278877 Share on other sites
