Mijink
Using UseNext I downloaded 10.4.8-install-dvd, which contails 3 files; 10.4.7-SMB.CIFS (ISO), Mac-OSx86-10.4.8-SSE3 (ISO). and MPIP103_10.4.7.SMB.CIFS.APF.FIX.dmg. I burnt Mac-OSx86-10.4.8-SSE3 to a DVD using DVD Decrypter, and formatted my second IDE hard drive using Fat32 as suggested from the guides I found here - I have windows installed on hd1 but want to install OS X on hd2... anyhow, I tried to install however I keep being sent to a screen that says "You must restart your computer" - never to any install screens... can anyone clue me in on what I may be doing wrong? BTW, I've already checked that my processor is compatiable. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38750-1048-install-dvd/ Share on other sites
Mijink
Anyone have any ideas on this? is there someway that I need to take the other two files and merge them onto one disc or install them first? I cannot boot using the first ISO btw. I've also copied the DMG file to the had disk but no luck with that either. rkwok
I think listing the specs of your computer will help others to find the issue for you. rkwok
for computer 1, try take out the winxp hdd, and have your 2nd hdd and ODD on the same cable and connect it to Primary. have you check the compatibility list, is the ATI xpress 200 supported? As for your Dell, I think Centrino only has SSE2, but the iso you downloaded is SSE3, probably the reason why it won't install. MPIP103_10.4.7.SMB.CIFS.APF.FIX.dmg is for fixing SMB problem in 10.4.7 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38750-1048-install-dvd/#findComment-276706 Share on other sites
Mijink
Update: I've located JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSe2.SSE3.v1p.ppf, and reading some post here I've decided to download PPF-0-Mattic, which I'll use to patch the ISO that I have... I hope this will fix the issues with the ISO not wanting to work for me. Anywho, if anyone can offer their help or let me know if I'm going down the right path here... ty Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38750-1048-install-dvd/#findComment-276709 Share on other sites

Mijink
Thanks for the information, as stated above I've located a PPF file for the version of the ISO I have - I'm going to use PPF-o-Matic to insert it into the ISO, reburn and try again... I'm on Satellite so it's going to take a few hours to get the file but I'll keep you posted. This shall prove to be interesting research into cross-platform computation. iformated hd2 with instructions mantiond here="http://www.profit42.com/" read onley "diskpartition" partthen i Patched JAS 10.4.8 for intel and amd, downloaded from green demon "demonoid.com" with JAS PPF patch rebut, set hd2 to fers hd in bios, but from cd run install, reformat hd in osx install/diskutility selec jas amd patch or whatever platform you got(intel, amd) run install and it works then you can instal any duall boot software and swich around or just swich from bios to witch hd boot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38750-1048-install-dvd/#findComment-276828 Share on other sites
