Amadeux
I got a copy of the Jas 10.4.8 OSx86 Install DVD. The Install went fine however, when I tried to boot after removing the DVD the system didn't boot into the OS. After replacing the DVD and rebooting the system the the timer to boot from DVD ran out and the system booted back into my installation fine, when I checked System Preferences there was no boot disk selected ( I have 2 HD's 120GB & a 250 GB). Additionally in Disk Utility there is no Moint Point on the OS Installation Drive. Moint Point is Listed as : /. the data drive is listed as: /Volumes/OS.x86 II. I'm completely stumped here any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38689-no-startup-disk/ Share on other sites

Amadeux
Thanks for the advice, however after doing this the drive is still not seen in the startup Disk in system preferences. I compared the moint points to my MacBook and they seem to be correct (they match my MB configuration,it's set up similar). But the system just won't boot without the disk... HELP!!!!! pureevilmatt
Having the exact same problem. Apparently it's an issue stemming from the Disk Utility on the 10.4.8 CD being broken. The resolution is to format the disk using the utility from the 10.4.7 DVD or before, then install using the 10.4.8 install. Or, follow the instructions in this thread to create a patched install DVD: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry274578 Edited January 15, 2007 by pureevilmatt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38689-no-startup-disk/#findComment-276151 Share on other sites
Sailfish
Make sure that the BIOS is pointed to the correct drive. Make the OSx86 drive/partition "active" and primary.
