3Flight
I've installed OS X on SATA Drive on second partition. First partition of same disk has installed Vista on it. I swiched active partition using -s mode when I loaded with OS X Install DVD, so now after BIOS I get straight to Darwin. When I see Darwin loader, which gives me 10 secs to enter console, I wait and I guess it starts to load OS X. Lines of text appear very quicky on the screen, then screen then changes resolution, and then it is black for a while, and after short pause computer reboots and I get back to Darwin. So OS X doesn't boot, I guess. I used JaS 10.4.6 DVD and installed it with Fonts, Lang Packs, X11(don't know what's it) and Patches(there was only one flag with all patches - AMD and Intel with SSE2 and SSE3 and everything else, so I ticked it). What should I do? PC Specs - P4 3.4 (with SSE3), 512 RAM, Intel 915G Motherboard, Radeon X700 videocard. Also a modem, Lan and TV Tuner cards are plugged into PCI slots. 3Flight
Guys, any ideas? Windows won't load too, if I set Windows partition as active, my PC continiously restarts after BIOS screen. msll
...burp... I guess you didn't login to MAC OSX after your installation. During the 10sec waiting time, enter -X for Safe mode, you will then have chance to go through the post-installation setup. You should be able to start mac normally thereafter if everything fine. 3Flight
Ok so I finally figured out that Vista works through Darwin boot selector. Anyway... If I use Install DVD and hit F8, then enter -X, I get to the installation. If I don't use DVD and boot from hard drive, I hit any key and then I can enter command. However, it doesn't matter whether I enter -x or -s or -v. In all these cases, lines of text start to flicker on the screen, then it(screen) changes resolution and I think that's when the grey apple loading screen should show up. But I get black screen for about 5 seconds, then my PC reboots. PCI Sound Card and PCI LAN disappeared in Vista, and are not found by updating/searching for new devices. Very bad, I have neither internet nor sound. Bad things, really! What should I do now - is there a way to finally boot into OS X in my situation or I should (reinstall it/format hd) and reinstall Windows? I didn'thave a chance to do any post-installation setup, so I don't know what to do at all. After I was asked a reboot (when OS X installation was complete), I rebooted and didn't run installation again(took out Install DVD). I didn't try to run installation again - is it supposed to find installed OS X and give me post-installation setup? I thought I don't need Install DVD after reboot to start OS X - am I wrong? rkwok
The problem is you checked all patches during installation, for your case you should only chose Intel combo, Intel SSE3, GMA900 and that should be it. So you need to reinstall OSX again. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38569-os-x-reboots-instead-of-loading/#findComment-276582 Share on other sites
