magic0200
Hey, I am at the point where I want to be sure before I have to go out and buy another product. I am running JAS 10.4.8 on a pentinum system with everything up and running (including ILife06). I purchased the RF remote and installed 1.3 Front Row using the Pacifist method. I am still unable to reach FrontRow and I still have not installed FrontRowPass.kext (for a reason). The only problem is that my keyboard and mouse are one unit under INFO and wondered if I can still use the vendor and device code? I am thinking that this is probably the reason why Frontrow is not being intialized (which I may be wrong). The Information is as follows. Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop® 2.20: Version: 0.53 Bus Power (mA): 500 Speed: Up to 1.5 Mb/sec Manufacturer: Microsft Product ID: 0x00e3 Vendor ID: 0x045e My quesiton is can frontrow still work with this setup, or do I have to purchase just a separate usb and keyboard combo? This makes me wonder obviously due to the wireless mighty mouse and keyboard combo that are for Apple. (which if worked I would buy) I installed the Microsoft Drivers for the mouse and keyboard as well, so they are not just defaulted to generic sources. (So by using the Pass.kext I am thinking that it won't work with this setup due to their separate device ids are through the MS end) The second quesiton is if this setup does not work, can someone confirm whether the apple wireless setup or another setup can work with front row. Thank you for any advice. UPDATE - I installed the kext with my vaules, chown root wheel, and removed extensions. Rebooted. I actually just put in my Decimals of the RF REMOTE. Still nothing will come up. UPDATE - The only thing left is that the fact I have a Nvidia Card on my machine? I am running a 7300GS with the current Natit Driver. (QE CI fully working) Edited January 13, 2007 by magic0200 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38545-front-row-native-ms-optical-wireless-desktop-rf-remote/ Share on other sites
thebeephaha
Its your combo keyboard and mouse. You NEED a separate USB mouse. I had the same issue till I tried my cheapo MS IntelliMouse. Then it worked. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38545-front-row-native-ms-optical-wireless-desktop-rf-remote/#findComment-280033 Share on other sites

The MicrosoftMouseDrivers don't work with FrontRowPass.kext together, because they try to access the hardware at the same time, so one of the drivers won't load or atleast won't drive it. I had this problem too. The only thing to get around it, is to take a second USBMouse and use its Ven & dev ID, or deinstalling MS drivers. cheers Edited January 29, 2007 by m41k Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38545-front-row-native-ms-optical-wireless-desktop-rf-remote/#findComment-287788 Share on other sites
