nedge2k
Hi all, Just installed the latest JaS 10.4.8 image (patched). Install went fine but on first boot, I get the boot screen but then it freezes. After a second or so I can hear music/sounds but the screen is still frozen. It seems to respond to keypresses too. I thought it was a driver issue so I re-installed, double checking which drivers I actually needed but same thing happened. When I "-v" at boot, it says "login window application started" and just stays that way. I'm a total n00b to OSX so any advice is welcome. My specs are (if it helps): Compaq V5030 15.4" (1280x800) display AMD Turion x64 (1.8Ghz) ATi Xpress 200m GFX card 1GB RAM 40GB Toshiba HDD TIA Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38281-jas-1048-first-boot-no-login-window-but-can-hear-sound/ Share on other sites

nedge2k
Thanks but I figured it out in the end. My own fault really, should have read up on my gfx card first. Basically, I installed some ATi drivers for my card thinking that, as my card wasn't mentioned and the name was similar, it might work with my card. What I didn't realise was that my card was already supported (kind of) natively and that I didn't need to install any ATi drivers whatsoever. Re-installed with no ATi drivers and all was good Although my ethernet didn't work and I can't switch my WLAN card on but that's another story for another topic...
