I have an HP ZD8000 (custom built) that installed OS X on a second partition just fine. During the first boot it goes through the white screen fine then goes to a black screen with a mouse cursor that i can move around. I haven't been able to get to the setup screen (reg info, etc)yet. I have the x600 ati graphics and i am sure i have more to do in that area. I just can't get past this. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I am still having the same problem. I re-installed several times trying different install packages from the JAS 10.4.8 img. There seemed to be a package for x600 ati card as one of the install options but of course it didn't work. I have the same version installed on a dell E1505 and everything but wireless and sound work. I know that is a different situation, but i am new to Mac and would assume that at least the minimum VGA setting would be used if no drivers were present (on my HP zd8000). Anyways

Please help if you can!

I have a ZD8000 that I'm installing OS X on, and it works fine with 10.4.6... at least no problems so far. I haven't tried to get to 10.4.8, but I'm living with the screen being stretched. I wish I could figure out how to set a new resolution. But for now, it's working. I get wireless networking and sound. Other than stretched video, I haven't found any problems yet.

I fixed the stretched screen with Callisto 003. I'm now running 1680 x 1050... looks great. I don't have the link handy, but if you search around, you'll find it. I read somewhere that 003 works with the ZD8000, and it worked for me. Can't say if the newer versions would work or not... I stopped at 003.

Are you having any problems with your DVD drive? I can't write disks or play movies.... Installing software works fine, but that's it.
