chenie
Hi, All I have just found a strange issue for the new JaS 10.4.8 AMD/SSE2/SSE3 version. When I type "clear" command in terminal, it doesn't works, and just print "Bus Error" When I repeat this command for several times, the system became unstable. Sometime it hanged directly, and sometimes it hanged in later operations. The same issue also happens in sh and xterm. I have tried to replace Natit driver with Titan driver and standard driver, and also tried other versions of 8.8.1 kernel. It has no effect on it. Is it a bug for this version? I'm still using the unpatched version, will the patched version be better? My PC configuration CPU: P4 630 3.0G Motherboard: GigaByte 8I945PL-G Memory: SMART DDR2-533 1.0G Audio: Realtek ALC882 Graphics: WinFast GeForce 6600 128M LAN: Broadcom 5789 HDD: Maxtor PATA 160G + WD SATA 160G BTW: I have modified the BCM5701 driver binary to support my BCM5789, I think it shouldn't be the cause, since the same issue also happens before I install this driver. bartolomiew
Same for me on Dell Optiplex210L P4 HT 3.06Ghz, 1 Go RAM, GMA915, Lan Intel PRO/100 VE, PATA 40 Go. I've installed with JaS 10.4.8 AMD/Intel/SSE2/SS3 (disk utility from JaS 10.4.7 Intel Only SS2 SS3) I've only change IONetwork with those of 10.4.3 to enable network with PRO/100 VE. Any idea ? clear -> bus error then man clear -> kernel panic ! Others applications like eclipse works well Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38088-bus-error-in-terminal/#findComment-277143 Share on other sites
devilhood
I'm getting this very same problem with a clean installation of the JaS v1p ISO with Defiant Disk Utility PPF. EDIT: The reason this problem occurs is because of a 64-bit mess up. If you boot up the Mac with the flag: -legacy (which forces 32-bit) you wont experience the Bus Error; useful if you want to run any update scripts.
