cmdshft
Ok, I downloaded the JaS 10.4.8 SSE3 Intel Only DVD, and I don't have any DVD's to burn the ISO to. I read that the ISO can be mounted in a Virtual Drive, such as MagicDisc (which I am using) or Deamon Tools. However, when I mount the image into the virtual drive with MagicDisc, and setup the VM to use the virtual drive, when I select CD-ROM in the VM BIOS Boot Selection, it will not boot from the ISO. I also tried loading the Image directly by setting up the VM to load the image from file instead of using the virtual drive, and it boots from the image, then when it goes to the grey Mac boot screen, it restarts into BIOS again. Is there something that I am missing or doing wrong? EDIT:>> Is it also possible to burn the DVD across CD-R's? wmarsh
Anyone? (I see a lot of threadviews, but no one posting... ) I tried Jas' disk in vmware; neither this one nor the earlier one would boot for me. Try tubgirl's disk. It works nicely. Here is a tutorial: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=35639 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38060-vmware-installation-question/#findComment-271374 Share on other sites
cmdshft
I would use Tubgirl's DVD if I had an AMD proc. But I have an Intel proc, so it's a no go. Also, I tried the two guides, I still end up rebooting after trying to boot from the mounted image. Also, I guess I should note that I have successfully installed JaS 10.4.6 Intel/AMD SSE3/SSE2 DVD and I have working internet on it. I tried searching for the update patch for 10.4.8, but I can't get any good results on google/demonoid or here on the forums. Can anyone PM me a way to update from 10.4.6 to 10.4.8 while booted into 10.4.6 natively? EDIT:>> Ok, I was able to bypass having to do a complete reinstallation. I booted into my Mac OS X 10.4.6, and installed Pacifist. I mounted the ISO off of my Windows drive right into Mac OS X so that it shows up like a actual drive, then loaded the DVD into Pacifist. I then selected only the JaS 10.4.8 Semthex update, and restarted. Now I have OS X 10.4.8, and now I just need to reload my nVidia kext's (going to try Titan) and fix the "About This Mac" selection causing me to logout.
