boron
Well I got 10.4.8 running on a p4p800E with a radeon 9600. Pretty cool! I use VNC a lot, and it's getting to be a real pain to have to plug in a monitor every time I need to reboot, since it needs a monitor connected on boot. The old trick of plugging in an adapter doesn't seem to work on these intels. Anybody got any ideas? I also tried Screenrecycler to get an extra vitual monitor over vnc, but it isn't designed to take inputs so it's pretty useless even though it works. Any other way to create a virtual monitor for VNC? Thanks! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/38050-headless-for-vnc/ Share on other sites

boron
It doesn't hang, it boots fine without the monitor. It's just that there's no monitor for VNC to share so you can't connect. Once it boots with a monitor attached, you can unhook it and VNC works fine. On PPC, we could just stick an adapter on and it would think there was a monitor... I used to boot my G4 headless all the time when flashing PC cards, never needed an adapter and VNC worked. I'll have to have a play with my Hacky...
