my hackintosh went through a couple of changes since my last post ( http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...c=34886&hl= ). mainly i switched from a pentium d 805 to a pentium d 820 ( 2.8 gig ) and i acquired a samsung 200 gig sata drive. i reinstalled jas osx dvd 10.4.8. i checked the semthex kernel box, forgetting i wasnt supposed to. installing natit for nvidia cards ( a geforce 6500 w/ 256 mb ) completely hosed my installation.

2nd time around, i split the 200 gig samsung into 2 partitions, 100gig for osx and the other 100 gig with fat32. this time i remembered not to check the semthex kernel box. only picked jas 10.4.8 combo update, 10.4.4 login window and azalia fix. after the install, i went through the usual fixing of the azalia kext, overwrote IONetwoking kext with an older version to get my realtek 8139 lan card working. after rebooting, i installed natit, reboot again. ran the prasys script to update my kernel to the latest version. reboot. video playback and audio playback was fine. somewhere along the way i realized i didnt have to use the "cpus=1" switch. i checked activity monitor, 2 cores showed up. I now have 2 cores midlly overclocked to 3.3 gig with a 235mhz fsb working.

not really sure what happened. was it the sata hd or the new cpu? still, i'm not complaining.

btw, here is what i get when executed "uname -a" on the terminal:

Darwin mykells-computer.local 8.8.1 Darwin Kernel Version 8.8.1: Mon Nov 27 18:58:11 AZOT 2006; semthex:/nebukadnezar/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 i386 i386
