I'm finally got my SATA working and now the system is booting up fine up to the LoginWindow start but then the Login/GUI doesn't appear and the system basicly crashes so there is no response from it anymore. (My system is a HP notebok nx6325, if you need more details - tell me)

The final line the bootup with -v displays is

/System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow: Login Window Application Started

At first I thought it was a problem with my graphic card (ATI x1150) but I think I fixed this issue when I copied the Natit.kext from the Tubegirl 10.4.8 AMD installation on my VM and the bootup process shows Natit recognizing my graphic card (expect for some error messages not being able to recognize the family of the card but then he shows messages that look positive to me - but correct me if I'm wrong).

Could it be that my graphic card is the problem that Login Window isn't starting alright and crashes? Or what else could be the problem?

Again, thank you for your help! You already helped me with the SATA issue and I would be happy when I could finally boot up my native Mac OS X.

I got the latest Natit.kext so the bootup doesn't even show the can't recognize right graphic card family anymore so I think my graphic card should be out of the game - but still - correct me if I'm wrong.

I tried booting with safe mode (-v -x) but still the same last line + he displayed "using default hostname because couldn't read the one the user set" (or so).

I hope somebody can help me out here!

I will be off till Thursday so I check the thread again Thursday evening.

No I didn't install it because it said (I think) that Intel processors need it but I have an AMD Turion X2.

Is their any way to do it now? Like copying the file over the LoginWindow.app or does the file change more things? Maybe someone could send me the file or is their some way to get it off the DVD without needing to reinstall?

Also I am messing with my NVidia kexts at the moment and have found, if I mess with them and add my device ids to the nv kexts, my logon window doesnot come. I have to then manually delete Titan/Natit and sometimes even the NV kexts to get Logon back.

I installed the LoginWindow.app with my other Mac install per VMware but the loginwindow.app didn't show up again so I booted it up in VMware and the machine seems to run fine and he shows the LoginWindow.app bootup message and then the sound appears and I think the dialog for setting up the Mac OS X machine appears but somehow I can't see it - no GUI - but still the startup/-v messages. Is their anyway (like Linux) to change to the graphic interface and I'm just failing because I'm not pressing these buttons? I don't think so. Seems like something really weird but what is wrong? Graphic card driver? Doesn't the graphic normally work out of the box with VMware?

Argh. I'm so close to get Mac on my machine but even close in giving up if I doesn't work out - please help me out!

I had the same problem with LoginWindow - turned out to be my Graphics Driver. I removed the Natit.kext, and modified the NVDA* and GeForce* kexts as per this thread:

After I did that, worked fine!

So Yes, I believe that your issue is Graphics Related - there's no loaded driver to display the Login Window.

Make sure you know the PCI id of your graphics card - you can find this out in Windows by using Device Manager.

Well I was able to get to the GUI now but only in 1024x768 and probably with the standard Apple VGA driver because I removed all the ATI*.kext and Natit.kext too.

Does any one know which driver is best for my ATI x1150 graphic card?

Well and the GUI crashes when I open About Mac - is that because I installed the LoginWindow.app fix? Should I remove it/is that even possible?
