wow
With 1047 it did som many installs, never a boot problem. I checked the bios that it would boot from dvd. Put in the dvd and booted, i heard the dvd spin but instead it loaded the already installed osx . it drove me crazy even if hold F8 i got the boot menu again i selected the dvd and hold F8 again so i could type -v , but F8 didnt work anymore. Which is starnge it should always work if you press it early enough but not this day. At the end the only thing i coyld try was tot disconect the harddisk just to or the dvd boot at least boot. That gave me an error something about ???.bootlist.??? . Then i rebooted with harddisk connected again and then it finally booted the dvd, god thanks. I isntall went perfect. But i suffer from a pavlov reflex. I am afraid to test / install something new options. Because it could corrupt the os and needs a new install. And what if it didnt find the dvd again. Could it be that osx had something special written to the harddisk that forced the computer to load the harddisk overruling the preffered dvd bios setting? Just like the first frsh osx install after that you have to "restart" the computer and somehow it loads the osx from harddisk instead of the dvd again. or could it a case of bad luck? U.C.
Happened to me 1) Installed 10.4.8 2) Half way during install it says, Installing Essentials failed 3) I reboot with DVD normally, the kernel panics 4) Finally I realize, its trying to load OSX from HDD 5) I wipe my disk (I have a separate 40GB for OSX) in Windows 6) Install OSX, works perfect 7) I guess, theres some small problem somewhere, maybe in the DVD or i dunno the bootloader or something Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37859-jas-1048-dvd-booted-but-it-took-me-25-times-why/#findComment-274879 Share on other sites
