hi,

I've successfully installed and got just about every hardware component to work using the Jas 10.4.8 installation.

But after a while i noticed my clock time runs abnormally fast. It runs about 1.5X the normal speed (in seconds). I have no idea why....

Another odd thing is I noticed i can't get into the "about this mac" screen.. when i click on it my system just goes blank and then logs off and back on again automatically..

I looked into system profiler but it says it can't get any information on alot of my hardware.. Including the CPU.

I'm using a Core2Duo E6300 @ stock 1.86Ghz and i'm pretty sure i havn't overclocked it..

I've also installed the SSE3 patch when i installed the Jas 10.4.8 version.

does anyone have any idea on what's going on?????

any help'll be much appreciated.

Thx

Rick.

My system specs:

E6300@ 1.86Ghz

7600GT - using Natit

SoundMax HD 1986A - 2CH audio

1Gb 533mhz samsung ram

was running vista in dual boot mode but my vista partition died yesterday..

The kernel in the JaS 10.4.8 installation is an early version of the kernel. It requires that you set the FSB parameter on boot.

To solve your time problem, update to the latest kernel. Or set the FSB parameter at boot. Both methods can be found by following the 10.4.8 link in my signature.

To fix your About this Mac problem, you need the 10.4.4 Loginwindow that was on the install DVD. Also, installing the AppleSMBIOS.kext from Paulicat can fix the readings on the About this Mac window. See the "Paulicat method" by following the 10.4.8 link in my signature. Going to the Paulicat page you will get a link to a file containing the SMBIOS file.

To fix System Profiler, get the System Profiler patch on the 10.4.8 page.
