Before I begin to whine about my problems, I first want to say how much I love this forum and how impressed I am with the quality of its support. Ok, onto the nitty gritty. I just finished installing OSX 10.4.8 using the Tubgirl release, and everything seems to be running smoothly (despite the hours spent trying to get it on their initially). I'm currently running a Athlon64 X2 4400+ on the Asus A8N-SLI Premium, and I have 3 SATA drives (one containing Windows Vista Premium) with OSX installed on a PATA. Now, I've read plenty of people talking about how they managed to get nForce4 sata working by modifying the kexts, but I've also seen comments about data corruption occuring as a result on the sata drives. Now, it is also my understanding that OSX can only read NTFS partitions, and not modify them in anyway, which all of my sata drives are formatted as. So, I suppose my question is if I modify the kexts so OSX can read my sata drives, do I have to fear data corruption even if it is only reading and not necessarily modifying the data? Thanks in advance.

I'm more or less in the same boat as you. I have the same A8N-SLi premium board with OSX running on a PATA drive. Last night I plugged in an SATA drive and it came right up! I partitioned it / formatted it HFS+ and started to clone the PATA drive to it. Well about 10 minutes in the entire system locked up. I tried a second SATA drive, this time the system locked up after about 3 minutes of use. Of course I wasn't worried about losing data since I was formatting the drives anyways. Some chap today told me that there isn't a way to use the nForce4 SATA controller with OSX, but if you find something please let me know also.
