I managed to install OX 10.4.8 from the JaS DVD on my Dell Inspiron 9100 laptop.

I used VMWare to install directly from the image to an external USB 2.0 harddrive.

After playing around for days with the video card I finally got everything to work.

I have a Pentium 4 HT 3.0 ghz Prescott CPU, 2GB of ram, and an ATI 9700 Mobility 128mb AGP video card. Oh and built-in AC97 sound.

I even got the card to work with full native resolution of 1920x1200, with CI/QE/Q2DExtreme, OpenGL, and it's recognized as AGP thanks to AGPGart.

Of course like every ATI video card owner there is mouse tearing.

I really do not like the solution of putting an another image over/under the cursor so that it doesn't tear.

Apple has Macs with ATI cards that have no tearing, so why do we have tearing?

Also, ATI Display Tools doesn't work! It keeps saying that I have no ATI products installed even though the Product ID has ATI written next to it. Does anyone have any solutions for this? I would like to be able to have TV-Out and the other settings from ATI Display Tools.

You could try this workaround.

How did you managed to display your videocard as AGP with AGPGart? Which versions, wich settings did you used and how did you installed it? My Mac OS is not booting when I install AGPGart. And do you use Callisto?
