Hello,

I am new to the x86 revolution.

I have not been able to find any information on installing OSx on a AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-52 processor on a HP dv9000 laptop.

I have found information on the other processors, but not specifically for mine.

I have been trying to load the installation as noted here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=11339

I am using the Mac-OS-X-10.4.7-AMD.Intel-(JaS)-ISO-Repack ISO

I am also looking into the following ISO's:

OSX_1048_AMD

JaS 10.4.8 Intel SSE3 DVD (Although waiting for an AMD patch)

First I want to be absolutely sure that my processor is supported, and secondly if I should be using a different ISO.

Here is my hardware configuration:

HP Pavilion dv9009nr

1.6 GHz AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-52

2048 MB DDR2

160GB 5400RPM (80GB x 2) (SATA)

NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 (UMA) up to 128MB (shared)

Basically where I am at is:

Acronis OS selector is installed

Second 80GB hard drive has been formatted as FAT32 primary

Mac-OS-X-10.4.7-AMD.Intel-(JaS)-ISO-Repack ISO burned to DVD

When I boot the computer from the DVD (not from the OS Selector), I get the white screen with the grey apple logo, then nothing happens. If I press enter, I get the dashed circle to appear under the apple logo, but it does not spin or do anything. I have to hold the power button to turn the laptop off.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

i too have an hp laptop, but it's a series 6 (dv6110) pavilion. tl-50, geforce 6150, 1gb ram, 100gb hdd (sata.) the problems i faced during a "direct install" i.e. booting off the 10.4.6 HOTiSO (very similar to JAS) dvd were:

1. non-detection of the keyboard and trackpad. booting with the -v (verbose) option shows "no message received from ps2 keyboard and mouse. timed out." did / see if you get this too...

2. on attaching a usb keyboard and mouse, the system would scream "error" and need a reboot.

anyway, some searching and pm'ing, the larger problem became evident. that the combination of nforce4 chipset and sata on this laptop doesn't help/allow in the installation of OSX.

we're stuck with whatever preinstalled gunk hp inflicted.

also, the current solutions for sata (on nforce4 etc) should be left alone, because they apparently result in data corruption.

what's even more wonderful is that the bios is completely crippled. hardly any options exists beyond changing time and date. 'disabling' sata isn't allowed. oof, hp :-(

btw, seen this horrifying thread? http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=57325 --- it has to do with severe keyboard problems being experienced on many hp notebooks...

the exact words from the pm exchange about this were: "...all bios that have SATA support have an option to enable IDE emulating, what sould for sure make things easier with MacOS and SATA. I think that our big problem is really make SATA working on our notebooks..."

Thanks for the information.

I am somewhat confused however, in other reading that I have done, I came across this thread:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...42&hl=TL-52

In this thread, member "Moveteam" "just installed Mac OS X Jas image and it's worked nearly perfect."

His configuration is:

HP Pavilion dv9045ea

AMD Turion X2 TL-52

1024 MB DDR2 667 MHz RAM

160 GB SATA 5400 RPM (2x80 GB)

Nvidia GeForce Go 7600 with 256 MB dedicated video memory

Is this not very close to what I (and you) am/are running?

  • 4 weeks later...

I have a HP dv9076ea (AMD X2, nForce4, SATA, Go7600) and I have tried with the only image I have managed to find, OSX 1048 AMD. This one lacks support for the SATA, which means you can't install this directly, you have to first install it on vmware, download the experimental nForce driver (look for AppleNForceATA.kext.tbz), and at this point you have to write the vmware file to the slice where you want OSx86 to be installed (use dd, it's part of OSX and it's used from the terminal). You have also include the HDA patch for audio (don't think this was part in the image).

There seems to be issues with the OSX 1048 AMD image, when I installed it, it missed to make the slice active (this leads to b0 error), it gives files wrong privileges, so you have to do a repair from the installer after install. I noticed there are quite many errors during install, which should be fixed somehow as there are quite many appliucations that crashes.

If you get hold of the 1050 version which is patched for AMD, go with that one instead, I think it may be easer and maybe someone been smart enough to include the nForce4 driver. There can still be trouble with touchpad and keyboard, I have been forced to use USB mouse to get things working when I have run the installer nativly and without working keyboard.

But then it could be the low quality hardware in the dv9000 series, I have had this far 2 CPUs, 3 Mainboards and one of the USB ports is broken, I suspect the hardware comes from the HP factory in Zhejiang Province, which Chinese goverment closed down a week ago, as they produced extremely low quality products.
