Chizzer
Hey Guys and gals, Just new to this read up alot on how to do this but running into a few snags, 10.4.6/10.4.7 installed no issues with internet connection at all, if I use the 10.4.8 install Jas I get no internet at all and under peferences/network it's self assigning a 169 as my ip, entering manually didn't help can't figure it out... so I put 10.4.7 back on knowing my nic works fine and I have connection, so I tried to update to 10.4.8 and same issue again...I am also trying to read on how to get my sound/video card to work properly but I just can't figure it out. My system is Asus P5Dl2 Rev 2 Pentium D 3.4 Oc'd to 4ghz Ocz Gold Xtc ddr2 667mhz oc'd to 783mhz Realtek Hd Audio *onboard of course* Ati X850XT 256ram Pci-e.... wow
What nic are we talking about? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37229-1048-x86-nic-issues/#findComment-264934 Share on other sites
cdummy
You need to replace ionetworking kext with one from 104.7 or earlier. This is known problem. JaS: "the 10.4.3 ionetworking kext is on every iso, just mount it and use pacifist to open the osinstall.mpkg, then do a find for ionetworking , take the one out of the patches not from essentials.pkg" You can take the same way one from 10.4.7 install directly from pacifist Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37229-1048-x86-nic-issues/#findComment-265010 Share on other sites
Chizzer
Thanks for the response guys, now with being totally new to this, I have both dvd's here... 10.4.7 and 10.4.8... what is this "PACIFIST" you talk of? Since I know this is a known issue and resolved easy... what's my option for X850XT to get it working clost to 100% as possible and sound? Btw, this isn't dmg file, it's the full dvd so I wouldn't thing I would have to mount anything would I? I found this Pacifist 2.0.1 I think... Thanks again guys for takin it easy on me, normally as a noob they get slammed for not using searh but I did this but just don't understand how to use certain commands and such yet to get stuff done! Chizzer
OK so I've reinstalled 10.4.7 completely since i Know the nic works fine that way, what benefit is it to upgrade to 10.4.8 since I personally don't see it and with being a noob prob won't ever lol, so now my next battle is getting my sound to work and video card, AUdio is Hd Audio look slike 882 according to device manager by realtek, is there patches to just download to get this to work and Ati X850XT? Thanks... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37229-1048-x86-nic-issues/#findComment-265238 Share on other sites
Chizzer
Welp, after some tinkering and such... I got my sound working on 10.4.7... nice works , so it's just a matter of video now... which that one seems to be trickier since everything I find says "X850XT PCI-E not supported by callisto or whatever that program is... What am I doing wrong? I've only tried the IOPCIFamily.kext and the IO8211Family.kext Will it be safe to install the old IONetworking kext, or will I probably run into the same problem? I have an SSE2 system. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37229-1048-x86-nic-issues/#findComment-265786 Share on other sites
