macgirl
Create the partition as FAT32, then from the Mac OS Installation DVD choose that partition in Disk Utility and format as HFS+ Journaled. da7a7
Do I set the Fat32 as active first? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37142-partition-doesnt-show-up-in-disk-utility/#findComment-264159 Share on other sites

macgirl
You are choosing the whole disk in Disk Utility, choose only the partition that you want to format and choose erase. Also a safer method: boot with a Linux Live CD, look for some of the tutorials at the Genius Bar section. da7a7
Never mind it wont work.. I have a SATA HDD and I was trying to install the 10.4.8 tubgirl's. But I had the same problem when I used 10.4.7 through VMware when I chose "physical HDD" and it wont boot natively it stops after "ApplePS2Trackpad :Synaptics Touchpad v.6.2" and I didnt find any solution for this and saw some people using hp laptops.. same as mine and have the same problem. Will tubgirl's DVD work on a usb hard drive? Neonkoala
Just a note - MacDrive which allows windows to see HFS+ partitions does not work with Vista currently - the new version due to be released shortly will do however.
