You can try to adjust the "com.apple.mouse.scaling" value in the hidden file "~/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist"

But this is an encoded .plist so you will need to use Property List Editor from the Apple Xcode tools or use something like PlistEditPro ($) - don't know if there is a demo and if it will work in demo mode.

If you use PlistEditPro, install the command line script: pledit

Then in Terminal, type:

pledit ~/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist

and edit the mouse parameter.

Another solution is to try the freebie Mousezoom: http://homepage.mac.com/bhines/mousezoom.html

This "issue" since very first release of OSX89.

I tried PlistEdit Pro (thanks for the great editor! :) ) and I found that

"com.apple.mouse.scaling" parameter is set to 0.00000000.

I tried different small values which has no visible impact on cursor speed. Then I tried to put minus before it, no effect.

OSX simple ignore everything below zero value.

The MouseZoom, again at very small value it still moves to fast :)

I'm going to try PS/2 to USB adapter, but that's different story. Last time I tried it, I remember I was needed to unplug/plug the adapter every time at boot...

What's the brand of your mouse? If it is something like Microsoft or Logitech, install the proper control panel. Those control panels usually let you override the default system mouse tracking speed.

If it is a regular brand, try USB Overdrive with your PS2/USB adapter.

A4Tech, it's wireless mouse and keyboard set. And there is no drivers for OSX exist.

Ok, I tried PS2/USB adapter and found that mouse don't work at all. Also at boot keyboard disappeared

and OSX offered to recognize it... I did unplug and plug back PS2/USB adapter and mouse worked.

Mouse tracking speed is smooth now, but I have to find a solution rather then jump under the table, move the case, unplug and plug adapter every time I turn on my computer or reboot.
