Hopefully this will eventually become a complete guide for Nvidia FX 5200 users. As of now I have 2 FX 5200 cards, one is a dual vga agp card and the other is a DVI and VGA agp card. Currently both cards work with QE/CI but no dual monitor on either. To even get QE/CI you must have a current 10.4.8 install.

Prasys has created a great little installer for FX5200 users and worked great on my system. It uses the titan kext. Says SSE2, not sure what would be different from SSE3.

Nvidia FX 5200 Installer (SSE2):

(partly works QE/CI, Resolution switching, no dual monitor)

Natit_Dual_v0.01

(partly works QE/CI, Resolution switching, no dual monitor)

Natit_Dual_v0.02

(broken with 2 monitors plugged in, second monitor shows up with mouse and background, first is dark and contains dock and menu)

Please, anyone who has successfully gotten dual monitor working on an FX 5200... I implore you to post your method here. I will update this post as information comes in and I have successfully tested it.

Thanks.

If you run into problems after reboot but can boot up into safe mode, the best advice I have for you is to run Disk Utility and check permissions, repair permissions, verify disk, repair disk. If this does not work, try another kernel. DaemonES kernel autodetects most hardware out there and works on my system. The latest semthex also works well on my system. Do you have and sse2 or sse3 processor?

Well never mind my above post, i got everything installed and it seems to have worked this time. im able to change my resolution, and it would seem that i have quartz and CI (depiste what System Profilier reports) but there is just one problem, it seems that OpenGL is messed up, for example, when i try to start the Flurry screen saver, i either get a blank white screen, or the prefpane just crashes. and im not sure if this is related or not, but iChat constantlly crashes, it opens, signs in, then just closes with no crash screen or anything. When i try to copy the opengl.framework folder into the Frameworks folder thru finder, it says i cannot because i dont have the correct permissions, it propts for my password and i entered it but it still would not let me copy it.
