Hello all.

This is my first post arround here, so lets go to it.

I used an image on JAS 10.4.6 with my old computer:

MSI MSI K8MM-V mobo

Nvidia geforce 4 mmx 440 se

1gb DDR

AMD Sempron 2800+

20gb Seagate HD

The install went ok, no problems at all. I edited the HFS+ things on the HD, and it is booting correctly.

The big issues are:

-I have no USB ports

-I can't use the onboard Ethernet adapter.

-Can't have any sound at all because I haven't found drivers for my Tascam US-122

Therefore, should I try to use another Ethernet device?

What could I do to solve the USB problem?

Thank you all in advance!

Well, found the kext files reffered on the wiki section and had everything working except the video card but...

When rebooting after installing the ethernet driver, the system crashes. The last lines i can see at the prompt are related with nvidia drivers.

What can I do to revert this?

I don't know if this can be important, but i did the disk repair permissions, and it detected that the winks had changed permissions.

What should i do?

Well, I tried to disconnect the nvidia card and use the onboard device and it booted.

The same thing happened.

After that i ticked the disable at the lan device. Amazingly it booted normally and said i had system extension that could not be used.

I followed the instructions at http://www.pinxue.net/mac/viarhine.html

cp the ViaRhine.kext to /System/Library/Extensions

adjusted the file attributes as:

sudo chown -R root:wheel ViaRhine.kext

sudo find ViaRhine.kext -type d -exec chmod 0755 {} \;

sudo find ViaRhine.kext -type f -exec chmod 0644 {} \;

and it still keeps the same thing.

Any ideas guys?

sudo chown -R root:wheel ViaRhine.kext

sudo find ViaRhine.kext -type d -exec chmod 0755 {} \;

sudo find ViaRhine.kext -type f -exec chmod 0644 {} \;

and it still keeps the same thing.

Did you perform a "cd /System/Library/Extensions" before running the "chown" command?

The "sudo find ViaRhine.kext ..." command has a period in it: "sudo find . ViaRhine.kext ..."

Boot up and go to Terminal:

cd /System/Library
sudo rm -rf Extensions.mkext Extensions.kextcache
cd Extensions
sudo chown -R root:wheel ViaRhine.kext
sudo chmod -R 755 ViaRhine.kext

Then reboot.

Axethrower it didnt work.

Rammjet It worked! Thanks!!

Now I only have problems with the USB ports: they only recognise the mouse and the keyboard. The soundcard simply wont work(Installed the soundblaster.kext then downloaded the official tascam drivers but nothing happened) I get the following error.

Dec 27 21:39:51 zetas-computer kernel[0]: USBF: 149.445 [0x2196a00] The IOUSBFamily is having trouble enumerating a USB device that has been plugged in. It will keep retrying. (Port 2 of hub @ location: 0x70000000)

I was wondering if i decided to get any of the updates, would I probably have a greater driver support?

Thank you all,

L.
