novaraz
Hey everyone, I am having major troubles getting the 8.8.1 kernel up and running. After a whole day of troubleshooting, the kernel loads up, but freezes at the loginwindow.app. I've tried both the posted .app, and pulling one from a working 10.4.6 8.4.1 install on a different comp. I've done the permissions and the prebinding update. Any other ideas? System (in question): Pentium D 805 Foxconn Intel 865, 1GB DDR GeForce FX5600 (APG) WD 250GB SATA The 10.4.6 Jas install was fine, everything worked with no tweaks. I followed the paulicat method to update to 8.8.1. The kernel loads, and works in -s. Any help is appreciated. -Chris Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36735-1048-update-headaches/ Share on other sites
Bruce Wang
Try boot to Single User Mode, mount the disk and replace the loginwindow.app with old one.... hope you have kept the old one.
