Sheer_Random
I tried twice to install Mac through VMWare. I did the whole installation and everything but when I get to the restart part my computer doesn't restart just the VM. I tried restarting my comp manually but it didn't work. McSkywalker
Which version of Mac OS are you trying to install? What are the specs of your computer? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36580-problems/#findComment-260237 Share on other sites

McSkywalker
Did you try to install natively? Also, did you apply the proper patches? What do you see in the screen when you start with verbose mode? ( -v ) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36580-problems/#findComment-260244 Share on other sites
Sheer_Random
I didn't try Natively no, I'll have to wait because I don't have a DVD-R. The patches I'm pretty sure. My computer says SSE2 and SSE3 in the CPU-Z program so could it be that? And what is verbose mode? McSkywalker
Your computer supports SSE3 and you should only check the SSE3 option when installing. When you startup with verbose mode, you can see what's being loaded at that time on the screen. When you reach the Darwin bootloader, you should start tapping the F8 key and at the prompt, type "-v" without the quotes and hit enter. That way you'll see text messages on the screen and therefore you'll be able to tell where the startup hangs and what's causing the problem. Sheer_Random
How do I startup with verbose mode? (Yes I am rather stupid) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36580-problems/#findComment-260261 Share on other sites
McSkywalker
I already told how to do it, but to make it more clear, just hit the F8 key several times at the startup (do it fast). If you do it properly, you'll see a screen asking you the startup options. In that screen just type -v and hit enter. Sheer_Random
Thanks alot. Now this is at the VM bootup or the computer? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36580-problems/#findComment-260266 Share on other sites
McSkywalker
It doesn't matter. -v just gives you the verbose mode. But if I were you, I would try to make the system work in native mode. By the way, I'm asking just to make sure of some things, how did you setup your hard drive? How did you partition it? Sheer_Random
Yes I partitioned it. I gave it 26GB..So you suggest I wait for a DVD-R to do it? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36580-problems/#findComment-260272 Share on other sites
