Their hardwork is greatly appreciated!! Now the problem, I have a Dell Inspiron E1705 Core 2 Duo with the NVidia GeForce Go 7900 GS (256 megs of ram). - I am running the JaS 10.4.8 distribution with the Semthex Kernel. When I run the uname -a command this is what shows up: 8.8.1 Darwin Kernel Version 8.8.1: Mon Nov 27 18:58:11 AZOT 2006; semthex:/nebukadnezar/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 i386 I have installed the Titan.kext, I have modified the GeForce.kext, the NVDAResman.kext and NVDANV40Hal.kext with the device id which is 0x0298. When I boot in regular mode I end up the two huge what bars on the screen and everything else is black. But if I boot in safe mode (-x) the GUI will load and I can run it at 1920x1200. When Titan loads it sees the video card and but the next line that shows up when I am using the (-v) boot command is: NVDA::start<1> NVDA::start<1>fail I am at a lose and I am not sure what steps am not doing correctly. I have read the post many times and tried reinstalling. I have even tried the Natit .kext but when I use the Natit.kext I end up with a screen that looks like smoke rolling up the LCD display. In both regular mode and safe mode. Any help is greatly appreciated. I am new at this but I will give anything a try. Thanks in advance. Rammjet Posted December 21, 2006 Share Posted December 21, 2006 The Titan.kext and IONDRVSupport.kext only have device ids for 0300-03FF. You need to change those as well. And maybe get a newer kernel - follow the 10.4.8 link in my signature. And what I should replace them with I tried putting the 0x0298 instead of the 0x0300 but that didn't work. The computer just hung on boot-up. Also the same is true for the IONDRVSupport.kext. Also you mention upgrading the kernel. I thought I had the newest one. I ran the auto update program for the semthex kernel and thougth 8.8.1 was the latest version. Sorry to sound like such a noob. But my card works best with Natit Installer. But I did notice that when I changed the values in the Titan.kext and the IONDRVSupport.kext that the: NVDA::start<1> fail disappeared and I have new messages there; NVDA::probe<vid> NVDA::start<vid> But all the messages that Titan would usually display are gone. Almost as if Titan is not running? The next thing that is show is as follows: -localhost /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindo: Login Window Application Started -Apple BCM440XEthernet: Ethernet address (the MAC address) -No Airport Driver Found And then it just hangs. The only way to do anything is to just power cycle. I can leave it for a few minutes and the computer will still stay at that point. But as soon as I go and put the original values back into the Titan.kext and IONDRVSupport.kext the machine will boot into safe mode. Also Faiz, I tried the Natit drivers and with even worse luck then what I am having with the Titan. I can't get the machine to boot in safe mode or in regular mode. I have to stay in a command line mode to do anything if I am using Natit. So I have had to switch it back to 298. I am attaching a picture of my System Profile in hopes that somebody can see something simple that I am missing in trying to get this thing set up. I removed the : <string>0x03000000&/0xff000000</string> string and replaced it with <string>0x029810de</string> and the system hangs on boot up. Now I am going to ask a silly question (blushes) but I was reading another post and do I need to change my login window to the older 10.4.4 version? My system profiler doesn't crash and reports things correctly. You should not need it otherwise to the best of my knowledge. Oh, and be sure Titan.kext also has your correct device id - that makes 5 files for you. Edit: on the other hand, I was using 10.4.4 Loginwindow when I set up my 7600GS, so maybe it is a factor. Well I finally got the graphic carding working and I realized I was making the dumbest mistake. When I was selecting packages to install I was selecting Intel 950 chipset also. I wasn't thinking about the graphics card, I was confusing it with the Intel Chipsets such as the P965 or 975X. I realized this after trying to install 10.4.6 because it seems that a lot of people have really good luck with that version. Once I realized what I had done I got the 10.4.8 JaS DVD put it in rebooted installed and updated the kernel and installed Titan. I DID NOT edit any values in the GeForce.kext, the NVDA*.kext or the Titan.kext. Titan sees the card, says cross your fingers and boots. Finally I have 1920x1200 with CI and CE. What a way to end the year! Hope everybody has a great New Year.
