mattdh
You are not the only one. I have the exact same issue with the ATI X1900. Either people have figured it out but I am leaning towards that they have given up until apple fixes this very annoying problem Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36236-installed-vista-but-only-4-bit-colormac-pro-7300gforce-gt/#findComment-259937 Share on other sites

Bojeebees
I've managed to get Vista into 32bit color (I'm using a Mac Pro with a 7300GT and 1gb of ram) by disabling the PCI-E x16 listing in the device manager. But now "Display Adapter" is no longer listed in the Device Manager at all and Vista is using something called "VGASave" as the display driver. Is there anyone out there fighting with this same issue that has found a better solution? mattdh
At the moment until Apple releases an update for boot camp. You need 2GB of memory in order for Vista to play nice. As far as I know their is no other option I am in the same boat and not to happy about it. Hopefully soon apple will release an updated version of boot camp that will allow vista to work with 1GB of memory -Matt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36236-installed-vista-but-only-4-bit-colormac-pro-7300gforce-gt/#findComment-323982 Share on other sites
