mnfesq
I installed Sequoia 15.7.1 on a Zotac ID92 (Haswell) and everything is working except WiFi. It's a Broadcom 4352 WiFi/BT chip and it works in Windows and in macOS Ventura and earlier. I haven't tried it in Sonoma. I have added the IOSkywalkFamily.kext (blocked the Apple version) added the IO89211FamilyLegacy.kext and AMFIPass.kext and have them loaded in the correct order. I have followed the tutorials to the letter and have no typos. I applied the OCLP patch for Haswell graphics and Modern Wireless and both proceeded without any errors. I reset NVAM and rebooted but upon reboot, the WiFi is turned off in system preferences and cannot be turned on. Here are some photos to show what's going on. In IORegExplorer, the WiFi device does not appear but a device called FakeBrcm does where the WiFi device should be. I know that FakeBrcm is a part of the AirPortBrcmFixup.kext. But the WiFi driver does not load. Any ideas? deeveedee
I have the Broadcom BCM 94352HMB in my HackBookPro6,2 running Sequoia 15.7.1 (patched with OCLP) without issues, so the Wi-Fi / Bluetooth shouldn't be a problem unless the hardware is bad. If you want help, post your EFI so that someone can review it. mnfesq
I confirmed that the wifi device works in Windows and earlier versions of macOS so the device is functioning. I have attached my OC config.plist along with a list of my pci devices exported from Hackintool and a copy of the IOreg which can be read in IORegExplorer. Hopefully, this will give you more information and hopefully someone will have encountered this or similar issue or has some idea about why it appears that the wifi device is not powered on. Thanks. mnfesq
I have continued to work on this issue and it's clear that it's not the macOS software and it's not the OCLP patch and it's not the hardware itself. WiFi works when I boot from an external drive (macOS) or an HDD installed in the same computer (Win10). That leads me to believe that the problem is with the M.2 SSD or possible some type of blacklist issue. All I know is that all of the kexts are loaded properly but the WiFi device has no power and is therefore not detected. Any ideas anyone? [As a workaround, I am trying to install Sequoia on an external SSD and, if it works, I will buy an adapter so that I can install the SSD where the HDD is currently connected. Then, I will install Windows on the M.2 SSD. I hope that works if nothing else does.] Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361889-cant-turn-on-broadcom-4352-wifi-in-sequoia-1571/#findComment-2842925 Share on other sites
deeveedee
@mnfesq I reviewed your config.plist and don't see any obvious issues with your Wi-Fi kexts, but I did see problems with your Bluetooth configuration. I have attached an abridged config.plist from my hack with working Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in Sequoia 15.7.1. You may want to compare it to yours in case I missed something. Note the boot args for both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. EDIT: Note that without your full EFI, I could not verify kext versions. You will need to inspect your kexts to make sure that you have the latest release versions. config.plist.zip Edited October 30, 2025 by deeveedee 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361889-cant-turn-on-broadcom-4352-wifi-in-sequoia-1571/#findComment-2842934 Share on other sites

Did you have to add the Product ID and Vendor ID to use that kext? And is the purpose of that kext to have a 4350 chipset recognized as a 4360? I'm not sure what it is supposed to do. Thanks for your replies. Also, I tried your boot args and, to my surprise, they improved bluetooth performance a lot. However, my wifi device is still turned off and it cannot be turned on. I'm really at a loss to figure out what is going on. deeveedee
@mnfesq I just took a close look at the screenshot you posted in Post #1. I've never seen Wi-Fi named "FakeBrcm" in IORegistry. Where did you get the Broadcom Wi-Fi kexts you're using? If you didn't get them directly from Acidanthera, replace your kexts with those directly from Acidanthera to eliminate the possibility of bad kexts. My I registry shows this: EDIT: By the way, it's my fault for not noticing the "FakeBrcm." You explained it clearly, I just didn't read. mnfesq
Surprise, surprise, FakeBrcm is a part of the AirportBrcmFixup.kext. I'm not sure what its function is. See the screenshot below. For what it's worth, I tried installing another Broadcom WiFi/BT chip and an Intel WiFi/BT chip and they both had the same problem. I would think it was a hardware problem if it weren't for the fact that WiFi works in a Windows installation I have on the same computer. This is a real head-scratcher and I have spent the better part of 4 days trying to figure this out and come up with solutions for it. Anto65
This seems to work here , BMC4350 DW1820 I'm not using AirportBrcmFixup.kext or even AirPortBrcmNIC_Injector.kext Spoiler Edited October 31, 2025 by Anto65 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361889-cant-turn-on-broadcom-4352-wifi-in-sequoia-1571/#findComment-2842985 Share on other sites

If you're certain of your kexts, I'm out of ideas. Spoiler EDIT: @mnfesq According to this, the "FakeBrcm" fix was implemented in a newer version of AirportBrcmFixup.kext. Again, I would recommend that you confirm that you're using the latest AirportBrcmFixup.kext from here. If you want more help, please post your entire EFI (with kexts). Also post your IORegistry explorer dump. mnfesq
I have been using AirPortBrcmFixup.kext version 2.2.1. See here: I am going to take a break from this so that I might once again be able to see the forest through the trees. But when I return to it, I am thinking that maybe the SSDT-EC-Desktop.aml might be causing this and that I could try the SSDT-EC-Laptop.aml instead. When I had WiFi working, I was using a DSDT.aml that was edited by MaLd0n. Now, the EFI I used to use with that DSDT no longer boots. deeveedee
@mnfesq I don't use version 2.2.1, since it's not yet officially released and the only change (at the time of this post) is a version bump. If you are still stuck after you see the forest through the trees, revert to version 2.2.0 and test. If that doesn't work, post your full EFI and IORegistry dump for inspection.
