kenascher
Hi, I'm trying to install jas 10.4.7 dvd I have a notebook with: Turion 1.6ghz X2 1 gb ram Nvidia Geforce 6150 go it says press any key to install osx, I do that, then it says loading darwin, finally a white screen with a gray apple comes up, but nothing happens. What do i do? Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36144-installation-freezes-at-gray-apple/ Share on other sites
frenchie
When the boot screen for darwin appears press F8 and then try booting with these flags -v -f Then write down what the error is. Most likely it is either the "Still waiting for root device" or the "SAM Address". np101137
replace the ApplePS2 kext with an old one from an older install, and that should fix it... Rammjet
There is no kext to replace on the install DVD to get it to boot. You could try to disable PS/2 in BIOS and use a USB keyboard and mouse. Another way is to use VMWare to install to your hard drive through Windows. After installation, you won't need to use VMWare to run OSX: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=11314 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36144-installation-freezes-at-gray-apple/#findComment-257624 Share on other sites

nkear5
It's possible your just not waiting long enough, depending on your ram and processor you could find it takes quite a while. Just Wait it out go get a cup of coffee or something. Update: sorry i didn't realise you got past that step. You have to make sure that youve partitioned your hardrive in fat32 primary or logical otherwise it won't work. And... ive personaly tried installing mac os x to my whole hard drive but i just get a B/O error so make sure your installing os x to a seperate partition.
