Anto65
Okay, I set your SIP value to 67080000. I previously had 03080000. If I may ask (you've already done a fantastic job), When it reaches 100% it reboots ,would it be possible to create a dialog box that allows the user to reboot later? At Boot, the macOS Install option is present in the gui, and it works perfectly. Thanks again. Unfortunately no, the utility allows you to delay the reboot for up to 5 minutes, but it still wants to reboot. I will check how it will work with a delayed reboot and let you know. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361362-a-program-for-installing-macos-without-using-an-installation-flash-drive/page/2/#findComment-2837278 Share on other sites

Sergey_Galan
Yesterday I spent a long time searching the Internet for an option to disable the utility reboot, but apparently there is no option, most likely this is how it is intended. It is possible to postpone the reboot for up to five minutes, but the utility does not terminate its work, but waits 5 minutes, and reboots the system. It is possible to stop the program at the moment of waiting, when the progress is 99.9%, but it seems to me a rude decision. I decided this way, I will set a pause before rebooting for 10 seconds, whoever wants to, can stop the program at 99.9% progress. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361362-a-program-for-installing-macos-without-using-an-installation-flash-drive/page/2/#findComment-2837289 Share on other sites

We experience discomfort during testing, but in general, the utility continues the installation, which is what the user actually wants. I will more clearly indicate in the program that a reboot will occur. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361362-a-program-for-installing-macos-without-using-an-installation-flash-drive/page/2/#findComment-2837308 Share on other sites

Anto65
Am I wrong, or was this command previously a simple command without a graphical interface and could only pre-install on the current disk and not on a desired drive ? " People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it. " ... Well, let us dream 😉 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361362-a-program-for-installing-macos-without-using-an-installation-flash-drive/page/2/#findComment-2837339 Share on other sites
Anto65
Look, it works, and it works great ! ( with the little we’ve achieved ! ? 🤔 ) If sergey can set a "Restart Now" or "Restart Later" alert , great . If not , it's already a success! ... I talked to a NASA engineer and he said it can be done. 🙃 Edited July 17, 2025 by Anto65 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361362-a-program-for-installing-macos-without-using-an-installation-flash-drive/page/2/#findComment-2837341 Share on other sites

LockDown
@Sergey_Galan Adding a --user xxx prevent it from auto restart. At least from a terminal. Havent tried with your app. A popup will confirm you if you want to terminate the terminal, selecting CANCEL will bring you back to prompt and system wont get restarted Edited July 18, 2025 by LockDown 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361362-a-program-for-installing-macos-without-using-an-installation-flash-drive/page/2/#findComment-2837356 Share on other sites

I noticed apart from the busy progress Icon near the top right corner, the progress bar at the bottom shows no installation percentage indication. Is that something that will be fixed in the future? It does not take away anything from the performance of the App, I just thought as it is included, surely it should behave as intended. Still a handy App to have. Cheers. Mirone
Good job, I haven’t tested the app yet, but I’ve been following the comments and I have a question: is there a field to enter the password? Isn’t the password requested through a system prompt? I didn’t know about the startosinstall tool good to know about it. Maybe I can implement it in future versions of FlashWizard... 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361362-a-program-for-installing-macos-without-using-an-installation-flash-drive/page/2/#findComment-2837382 Share on other sites

The password is written and stored in the keychain and is supplied as a variable. The script is not interactive. If you use the terminal, there will be a request. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/361362-a-program-for-installing-macos-without-using-an-installation-flash-drive/page/2/#findComment-2837384 Share on other sites
