Lost-Entrepreneur439
I have a Radeon HD 2400 PRO (gigabyte model -- device id 94c3) in a legacy Compaq machine which i'm using as just a fun project box, I'd like to hackintosh it. Right now I have Leopard on it and I am getting full screen res, but no full QE/CI (i'm using ACPMInjectorHD2400.kext and Natit.kext for that). Is there any way I can get full acceleration with this card, even if it's Tiger or something ancient? I've considered just using the system's iGPU (which is supported up to lion) but it can't go past verbose with the iGPU (it like clears the verbose log then stops responding with the iGPU) This CPU is Conroe so no matter what, I can only go up to El Capitan. Slice
I think 10.5 has a chance. 1 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/360177-radeon-hd-2400-pro-supported-at-all-in-macos-any-version/#findComment-2827039 Share on other sites

HI there! If you ever find how to enable full QE/CI on the Radeon HD 2400 please share. I tried once using and old C2D computer that runs up to El Capitan fine, but never managed to enable acceleration with the HD 2400... As you, the only thing I could achieve was getting higher resolution. Slice
Yes, many old cards may work in old systems but no chances in new systems. For example NVidia 7600 may work only in 32bit systems so up to 10.7. Radeon HD3870 is AGP card and AGP driver presents only in 10.5. And so on. 1 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/360177-radeon-hd-2400-pro-supported-at-all-in-macos-any-version/#findComment-2827086 Share on other sites
harrystyles
Use the Right Kexts. ACPMInjectorHD2400.kext and Natit.kext are common, but you might want to try other kexts like RadeonHD.kext or RadeonHD2400.kext specifically tailored for your card. These can sometimes provide better compatibility and performance. slope game Edited November 4 by harrystyles Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/360177-radeon-hd-2400-pro-supported-at-all-in-macos-any-version/#findComment-2827247 Share on other sites

I did get it working with 10.5, I had to modify ATIRadeonX2000.kext to replace the 94c8 device id (i think this is the 2400 xt?) with the 2400 pro's 94c3 device id, i'll try this with 10.6 too since 10.6 has far better app support. When I try googling radeonhd2400.kext, all I get is a link back to this thread. Lost-Entrepreneur439
Update - the method I used to get QE/CI in Leopard didn't work in Snow Leopard, I just got a grey screen.
