Eggplant
Hello, I'm EGGPLANT. Recently I am studying the usage of OC. I am trying to : 1.boot windows10[✔️], windows7[❓], linux[❓] and monterey[❓] on my laptop; 2.beautify the boot interface by customizing the background ,logos of OSes and adding BGM to OC. As a 'toddler' in this field, I unsurprisingly encountered several problems: 1.grub4 always occupies the priority; 2.beautification was not successful, both bg,logos&BGM; 3.I don't have the bootable copy of Monterey, so I am not able to edit configurations of OC smoothly. What's worse, It is quite difficult for me to interpret the meanings of some OC terminologies. I would appreciate it if anyone could offer some help. eSaF
Hi, it would greatly help other members to come to your aid if you list the full spec of your machine i.e Motherboard, CPU, GPU etc. As a matter of fact see here - Which would make all your queries now and future ones a lot easier as we all would see your specs at a glance. On the subject of Dual Booting, it is a lot easier for installation and maintenance if all Operating Systems are on their own respective Drives. There are plenty of useful Tutorials on the subject, also OC is not that daunting as you'll find out it just needs configuring to suit the particular specifications of your machine. Good luck. 1 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/358942-configure-opencore098-for-dual-booting-on-icelake-thinkbook15iil/#findComment-2817970 Share on other sites

eSaF
@Eggplant - Hi, I am not in anyway familiar with your Specs so I did a search for similar here - https://github.com/topics/hackintosh?o=desc&s=updated. There are a few, I found the closest to your specs (the EFI Folder attached) so that you can compare and hopefully get an idea coupled with some reading to get a start. You can also try the attached EFI Folder on a USB Installer Drive and see if you get favorable results. If you do decide to try this EFI, you'll need to furnish the config.plist with your own S/N, MLB, SmUUID and ROM. Once you have a successful install and Boot-Up of macOS, dual boot with Windows will come later with help from the community. Good luck. Eggplant
I have tried the EFI, but it did not work. In order to minimize the probability of system-breaking-down, I updated OC to version 0.9.9. Then problems occurred: 1.I created a Sonoma VM using a weird method('recovery') and tried to flash Monterey's .pkg file into my USB to make it bootable. Although the terminal said it was done smoothly, actually my USB was still unbootable, only containing the rest part of the installtion media.(EFI folder was empty, multiple attempts) 2.When I was trying the EFI offered by @eSaF ,the USB would boot, show lots of errors (EB,etc.) and then stick; 3.When I was using OC(EFI&configuration) created by myself, the same USB even couldn't boot, while Windows10 would boot through OC; 4.OC GUI and Audio features were broken, while showing no alerts or errors. P.S:If I want to customize the icons of systems, what do I need to do? Write an X.contentvisibility? resources: \EFI\OC\Resources\image\mytheme\allthepicturesneeded OC0.9.9.zip Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/358942-configure-opencore098-for-dual-booting-on-icelake-thinkbook15iil/#findComment-2818063 Share on other sites
Eggplant
I viewed several topics with regard to the problems I encounted: problem1: no cues yet; problem2: caused by cfg lock or config.plist ->UEFI ->Quirks ->IgnoreInvalidFlexRatio ->No?? problem3: no logs were saved and no cues yet; problem4: write Windows10:Windows in config.plist -> Misc ->Entries ->flavour?? Anyone has any guides on this situation? I think I had better not change the configuration curtly.😂 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/358942-configure-opencore098-for-dual-booting-on-icelake-thinkbook15iil/#findComment-2818093 Share on other sites
