RhInO_
Hello guyz..., I've a problem with my mac osx86 instalation, and I hope someone can help me with this. The installation itself is no problem (with the 10.4.7 jas dvd) but when it's installed it won't start up in normal mode, it does start up in safe boot mode (that -x thing ) when I try to start up normal it stops by the line "nForce3 (...". I really don't know what to do, the sata and ethernet (forcedeth) patches won't help either. I have: Asus K8N motherboard (nForce3 chipset) AMD Sempron 2800+ (socket 754) SATA hdd Edited December 14, 2006 by RhInO_ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35807-nforce3-problem-i-think/ Share on other sites

gotoh
you have to use only 1 of the AMD patch, the one which suits your CPU. So it's either SSE2 or SSE3 patch, not both of them... joe75
I have no problems with my nForce3 K8N, try reinstalling and skip the VIA.Sata.ATA patch, before reinstalling try to boot with -f flag Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35807-nforce3-problem-i-think/#findComment-255551 Share on other sites

RhInO_
hello again, I reinstalled it 5.389.472 times and it still don't work!! This exactly what I do, what is wrong??: - I'v 5 partitions: 1st: "XP", 190GB, NTFS, Primary, active 2nd: "VISTA", 15GB, NTFS, Primary 3rd: "MACOSX86", 15GB, HFS+ (not journaled), Primary 4th: "UBUNTU", 15GB, LINUX EXT3, Logical 5th: "SWAPSPACE", 500MB, LINUX SWAP, Logical - I start my pc with mac os x86 10.4.7 (Jas) dvd in it. - I wait... - I select my language (Dutch) - I erase my third partition to HFS+ - I agree, I choose that partition, etc... - I select everything except the patches - I select only these patches: -> "AMD.10.4.7.Combo.Update" -> "AMD.kernel" -> "VIA.Sata.ATA" - I wait... - It restarts - It works fine (except ethernet of course) - But when I choose restart it doesn't start up anymore and the line where it stops is "AppleNVIDIAnForceATA: NVIDIA nForce3 A2 (CMD 0x1f0 CTR 0x3f4 IRQ 14 BM 0xffa0" Does anyone know what the problem is, maby because I overclocked my cpu (and gpu) or changed my ht ratio, or is my hardware just wrong??? joe75
Do you set the partition to active? Do you have the SATA drives plugged into the SIS controller, if so, then plug the osx drive into nforce controller. Is your bios set correctly for SATA operation? Why do you add VIA SATA? I have full support from this board and your overclock should not be a problem Edited December 31, 2006 by joe75 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35807-nforce3-problem-i-think/#findComment-265249 Share on other sites
RhInO_
Thanks, But what do you mean with: "Do you have the SATA drives plugged into the SIS controller, if so, then plug the osx drive into nforce controller" And the partition is set to active and the bios is set correctly I think because the sata drive works well whit windows XP / Vista and Ubuntu. And I add the VIA.Sata.ATA patch because the description of it is something like this: "Install this patch when you have a nForce or VIA chipped motherboard" (and I installed it whitout that patch once, and it doesn't work) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35807-nforce3-problem-i-think/#findComment-265370 Share on other sites
RhInO_
btw, when I start mac os x86 up with the -f flag it works fine. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35807-nforce3-problem-i-think/#findComment-266736 Share on other sites
joe75
It sounds like you should boot with -f then There is no need for VIA on your board and the 2 SATA jacks that are in the middle of the board are the nforce controllers and the 4 red ones at the bottom are the SIS Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35807-nforce3-problem-i-think/#findComment-266828 Share on other sites
RhInO_
I found this in a HCL (http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.4.3): -K8N nForce3 250 -Asus -Used Jas' PPF patch. Sound works, ATA works (No SATA), Ethernet (nForce) doesn't work, D-Link DFE-538 tx used for internet. -no ?? This is the HCL 10.4.3...I know, but are you sure it works fine with 10.4.7?? With me, it still doesn't work... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35807-nforce3-problem-i-think/#findComment-332731 Share on other sites

RhInO_
medevil's nforce kext pal, and you'll get sata Yeah I did, I copied the kext file (AppleNForceATA.kext) into the folder /System/Library/Extensions (is that right?). But it works fine for only one time: I copy the file in -f flag mode, when I do that I can start mac os in normal mode once. When I shut down and try again I will get the error: "Start OHCI controller will be unloaded across sleep". What I do wrong?? I searched this forum a lot, but I can't find the solution for this problem... RhInO_
I have done a major discovery... Always when I placed the correct kext file in the libary, mac os starts up only ONE time (in normal mode)...well, just a couple of minutes ago mac os started up for about 4 times in a row (in normal mode). So what happened? Well I don't know, but I do know what I did different: - I didn't take the pc off the power (I don't unplugged it from power) between those 4 times - I didn't changed ANYTHING at the hdd those 4 times (I just start up mac os and shut down mac os, I did't make files/maps or something) The fifth time I only moved a map and cut the power off and again the same old thing happened...He won't start up in normal mode again... I don't know (for sure) which one is the problem (I think the second one), but I do know the solution is nearby! joe75
To be honest I don't understand what the problem could be. I have no problems with my board and have been able to use SATA since myzar 1046. And I have not used bikedudes/medevil kext. If you're still trying to install 4.7, I would suggest going to pirate bay and finding AMD FINAL 1048.
