vEmpire
Hi I need to know if the tulip driver is compatible with 10.4.6 because when I try to load the tulip.kext in terminal with kextload it seems like it doesn't do anything. I'm trying to get my Linksys LNE100TX v4 Ethernet adapter to work. Inside the tulip.kext It has my device and vendor Id (Device=0985 Vendor= 1317) so I don't get why it doesn't work. any Ideas? Oh and here are some pictures: Device and Vendor codes Ethernet Cards Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35791-tulip-question/ Share on other sites

McSkywalker
Tulips seems to work with 10.4.6. Look at these: Link See the first post in that thread, and if you're lucky, the linked tulip driver may work for you. vEmpire
Well I have tried WMarsh's Driver but in terminal It looks the same as the one I compiled myself they both have my device and vendor id in them. When I type in "sudo kextload -v tulip.kext" It says something like "tulip.kext seems valid" and after that "loading tulip.kext" but it doesn't ever say it succeeded and when I try to unload it it says "Cannot unload tulip.kext". So does that mean it never loaded it? Oh by the way my processor has Hyper-Threading technology would that cause any problems should I disable it. My device ids put together are 0x09851317 Its listed in the second device's Id numbers. Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35791-tulip-question/#findComment-255123 Share on other sites
vEmpire
Heres a picture from my mac install: Here you can see what it says when I type "sudo kextload -v" in terminal on the right and my Device+Vendor Id (0x09851317) on the left. I didn't put that id in it was there by default so I think the reason its not working is because its not loading the kext right for some reason. I hope I can get this fixed soon. (what I blacked out was my name so just ignore that) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35791-tulip-question/#findComment-255162 Share on other sites
McSkywalker
Did you try deleting the other device ID's? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35791-tulip-question/#findComment-255164 Share on other sites
vEmpire
Well I just tried it I deleted all the device Ids on the same line and it didn't work. I think the issue is its not loading for some reason cause when I do kext stat theres no tulip.kext listed. Man this is getting on my nerves hopefully it will work soon. thanks for helping me so far McSkywalker. vEmpire
Here's some more info I installed with the Jas 10.4.6 DVD with the Intel combo patch and the sse2 patch because when I installed with the sse3 patch it gave me double kernel panics. Would installing the sse2 patch on a cpu that supports sse3 cause problems? Oh and If I wanted to update to 10.4.8 would installing the sse3 patch while updating screw it up and I would have to stick with sse2?
