Good afternoon.

Sonoma beta 4 + OpenCore 0.9.4.

Every time I open Music app, it remains opened for a few seconds and suddenly closes, giving an error message that I can't interpret. The crash is always in this thread:

TV app shows the same behaviour (thanks @aniuks27 for reminder).

The crash happens with 3 different settings:

  1. OpenCore without Sonoma wifi patch, SecureBootModel not disabled and csrutil enabled
  2. 1 + OCLP patch for Sonoma wifi with AMFI disabled (amfi=0x80)
  3. 1 + OCLP patch for Sonoma wifi with AMFI enabled (AMFIPass.kext).

Does it happens to any one else? I can find references to this crash in MacRumors (Sonoma in unsupported Macs) but not in the OCLP issues or PRs.

More info.

After reading @Stefanalmare config.plist posted in other thread (thanks), the main difference is the SMBIOS model, I have iMacPro1,1 and he has iMac19,1. I've tried with iMac19,1.

  • iMacPro1,1 (iGPU disabled, only 6600 XT): Music and TV apps crash, I can't play DRM content. It's a bit strange since, on Ventura and earlier, this setting (AMD dGPU only) has always worked fine, allowing DRM, Music and TV working fine, etc.
  • iMac19,1 (iGPU headless mode, 6600 XT main card): Music app runs fine, no crash, TV app runs (no crash) but it plays only sound, not image. No DRM. It's a similar behavior to Ventura and earlier with one difference: shikivga=6 allowed watching TV app and playing some DRM content but not in Sonoma.

Adding shikigva arguments to iMac19,1 SMBIOS makes no difference (tried 6, 16 and 80). I have to choice: Music yes (iMac19,1) or not (iMacPro1,1). So, since I play music often with Music app and usually I watch Netflix, Prime and TV in the tv, I keep iMac19,1 and see if there are news in future betas.

Although I must not forget that we are with a beta system that in general works very well, there are some important disadvantages for the daily use, a very important one (wifi) is fixed for now but others (DRM) are not, at least on certain systems..

EDIT: We'll always have Chrome to watch Netflix and Prime.

@FirstTimeCustomac @eSaF

Answer to my self. iMacPro1,1 SMBIOS >> Music and TV app running fine on beta 5 🙂

Update has been flawlessly, I had iMac19,1 SMBIOS >> incremental update offered without RestrictEvents or any other change.

Now keeping iMacPro1,1.

Sonoma Beta 5 - O.C 0.9.4;

Apple TV and Music app don't crash.

Whatsapp application gives an error message and does not open.

Error message is " Due to a problem, WhatsApp had to be restarted. " And it definitely doesn't start over. The mouse sign remains to Rotate Continuously.

But WhatsApp web works without problems.

Have you tried running it with this boot arg: ipc_control_port_options=0
