GuyEvans
I managed to make the USB installer but it reboots everytime at this point. Can anyone offer any help. I've uplugged all external devices, and the only thing in my system is my wifi card (BCM94360CS2 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.0 Card to PCI-E x1 Adapter for PC/Hackintosh) and my Sapphire RX580 GPU. Apologies about the poor image quality. I'd be so grateful if anyone can help. Issues: 1. When connecting additional monitors on hdmi, it doesn't work and only black screen, do we need to patch frame buffer ? 2. After patching usb, removing usb hub and connecting keyboard and mouse directly to motherboard ports not working. 3. Also is it possible to add back bcm5764m support and bring up ethernet in sonoma ? Small update in instructions: After patching wireless. 1. Use ur post install efi and add amd_no_dgpu_accel to boot args and reboot. 2. Patch again gpu 3. Remove amd_no_dgpu_accel from boot args and reboot for metal 2 support. GuyEvans
I tried again to install Sonoma today and my system reboots soon after selecting the Sonoma Installer icon. I did load the config file with Open Core Auxilary Tools and it showed this, could this be part of the problem? (although i have read that ProperTree is a better plist editor). Is there anyway I can save the output (verbose mode) to share and try and debug? Any help would be greatly appreciated. miliuco
@GuyEvans First error is easy to understand: Is VirtualSMC the second kext after Lilu in config.plist? Second error: what do you have in UEFI >> Output >> InitialMode? It must be Auto as String. GuyEvans
Thank you, the error is linked to FakeSMC (and Virtual SMC missing), i've replaced FakeSMC with VirtualSMC and my system reboots before installing Sonoma. I've tried both ways (with FakeSMC as well) and it also reboots. I've also changed UEFI>>Output>>InitialMode to 'Auto' and it makes no difference. I generated a log file and maybe this can help diagnose the problem, which is causing the installer to reboot my system. If i click on the Install Sonomoa icon, it displays lots of text, checks BaseSystem file etc. etc.. and then after displaying lots more text my system always reboots. Here is the log file: (I hope it's ok for me to paste it here?). Any help would be great. I've trying for months to upgrade my Z800 to a newer operating system, and i'm struggling to fully understand OpenCore. We don’t know anything about your machine. Upload your config.plist. OpenCore version. Is it 0.9.3? Hello and thank you for replying, I've just updated my signature with my computer settings. I'm currently using an EFI from an identical workstation to mine (HP Z800). The only difference is my CPU speed is E5630 (not 5670), and my wifi card is slightly different (but is fully mac compliant, with Ventura anyway and hopefully Sonoma). I've had a recurring issue of my system rebooting during the Ventura, and now Sonoma install boot process. In Verbose mode, it displays lots of text and then reboots at a specific point. I'm struggling to problem solve it. Any help would be great. I can't understand why the EFI won't work for my machine (an identical machine to the EFI folder which i'm using). I've attached my updated config.plist file. So far I copied Sonoma to my blank USB (using the createmedia apple commands in Terminal). sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Sonoma.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/USB I then used the bootx64.install tool (in terminal) to create the EFI partition. And I then copied the EFI Folder, into the EFI partition. When I boot my system, I see my Hard Drive, EFI and Install Sonoma (Icons), and after beginning the install, that is where my system reboots. Any help would be great. P.s. You mentioned if i'm using Open Core 0.9.3 and yes that is the location of where I got the 'bootx64.install' (from the utilities folder). Am i perhaps missing an install step somewhere for Open Core. I thought running the 'bootx64.install' command was all that was needed for my Legacy install on my machine. config.plist Edited November 2, 2023 by GuyEvans uploaded correct config.plist file Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/357369-hp-z800-ventura-trying-to-follow-successful-instructions-from-another-user-but-not-working-for-me-can-anyone-help/page/2/#findComment-2813077 Share on other sites

miliuco
@GuyEvans I think that the best way to partition the USB is with macOS Disk Utility. Open Disk Utility Select the USB volume (the whole volume, not HFS+ the partition) Menu >> Erase Partition scheme GUID + format HFS+ (Mac OS Extended (Journaled)) No need to create the EFI partition with bootx64.install, it has been already created by Disk Utility. Try @sok5 EFI but I don't know if you will be able to have graphics acceleration (not sure about this). I will give this a try later. I've already been trying out sok5's EFI for a while now, we have almost identical system specs (HP z800 workstation). I also have a RX 580 (similar to 570) which is fully mac compliant in Ventura/Sonoma. I will give your helpful advice a try later and will update you on how I get on. GuyEvans
@miliuco @sok5 Hello I tried creating the installer using the information you both gave me, and I get the same problem (my system reboots after showing the boot text on the screen in verbose mode). I've tried 2 USB sticks as well. Is there any way I can output a log from Open Core installtion process, to find out what specific thing is triggering my system to reboot? That would be really helpful as my system seems to reboot at a specific time every time I try to install Sonoma. It must be possible for me to get this to work. I really hope so . Thanks again for any help you can offer. Seems quite random the errors. Feels odd that my system has issues using an already working EFI file (others have had success using the EFI file on same system as mine). *Although my system currently runs High Sierra perfectly (old Clover install) and dual boot runs Windows 10 perfectly as well. First, ensure that the ASIX88179 adapter is properly connected to your device. Next, navigate to your computer's network settings or device manager. Locate the ASIX88179 adapter in the list of available network devices. Right-click on it and select "Enable" or a similar option, if available. If the adapter requires drivers, make sure they are installed and up to date. Finally, restart your computer to apply any changes. Once completed, the ASIX88179 should be activated and ready to use in Sonoma. sok5
On 11/6/2023 at 1:56 AM, GuyEvans said: @sok5 Thanks so much for sharing the updated EFI (RX580 edit). I tried it, and it nearly completed the install verbose text on screen and rebooted again much later (I thought it was going to work). It feels like it is nearly solved. I exported the new Debug file from Open Core and this is what it says. I'm struggling to make sense of it. I just googled the Open Core debug page: https://github.com/tianocore/edk2/blob/UDK2018/MdePkg/Include/Library/DebugLib.h I'd be so grateful if anyone can help me understand why I'm still getting an error / reboot. Thanks for your help so far, i'm really really grateful. 00:000 00:000 AAPL: #[EB.H.IS|!] Err(0xE) <- RT.GV boot-signature 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 00:184 00:184 AAPL: #[EB.H.IS|!] Double check with your bio settings. I don't know what 's wrong with your system. I successfully reinstalled at least fourth time with my EFI. Do you know how I can problem solve the error log from my EFI? I couldn't find much info online for the error message i'm getting. I will keep trying. It seemed to improve a great deal after you sent me an updated EFI (with the RX580 selected). Many thanks for your help so far, i will keep trying.
