The main windows computer is my file server which runs windows server 2003. The other 2 laptops run XP and my mac is an Intel imac. The laptops connect to the server by using the map network drive and have the enter a password on the initial setup, these login details are the same as what i use to physically login to the server. When i use the SMB://xxxxxxx/xxxxx on the mac it prompts me for the password and user name, which i have entered correctly a number of times without success. I also cannot connect the the shared printer which the other computers can. I have only had the mac about a week.
