System doesn't stop loading

I installed Mac OS X 10.4.7 on my computer. I didn't update or anything yet as it was a fresh install. I booted up and then had to shut down as I had to go. And today when I started it It goes to the loading screen with the spinning cog and such stays there forever (with it still spinning). I started in verbose mode and it didn't get to far, with a some new text I haven't seen before.

I have installed X a couple of other times on the same system and never had this problem before.

That looks typical to me, nothing odd. I'd start it up as "-s" for Single User Mode, run "fsck -y", and then "reboot" the computer. I'd also start up from the dvd/cd and run disk utility to repair permissions.
