ninetto
OKAY, never seen this happen before, now I'm pissed off at XP: I have XP and OSX installed on separate disks. A third FAT32 partition on the OSX-disk is used for exchanging files between XP and OSX. The system has been solid from the start. Well yesterday, XP destroyed a large part of the FAT32 directory, with much important data I need for OSX programs! Days of work were lost. I tried the usual barrage of windows DATA-recovery tools, but to no avail. THE CHIEF SUSPECT in this disaster appears to be the windows CHKDSK which I ran after initial problems. What recovery tools exist for MAC? The disk utility offers a pretty vague "first aid" which also provided no cure. I have noticed/read that OSx and XP organize FAT32 disks differently: but surely it should be possible to access FAT 32 disks with both systems without conflict? bibendum
Disk Warrior and Drive Genius are two Mac programs. I have them both and have depended on them for different reasons. Norton Utilities used to be decent, but they haven't been made since prior to the Intel switch, so won't run... hecker
Try R-Studio for Fat32 (PM me). It's the best program I know for recovering lost and broken files. hecker Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35282-another-reason-to-hate-xp/#findComment-329654 Share on other sites
