Hi guys,

This is my first time attempting a Hackintosh and it seems I bit off a bit more than I can chew.

Here are some details of the laptop in question, my progress so far and the issue I'm stuck on:

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700HQ 2.60GHz x 8 (SkyLake)

GPUs: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M (I know this is unsupported) + Intel HD530 (this is supposed to work fine up to and including Monterey in theory)

RAM: 16GB DDR3 1600MHz

Motherboard/Laptop model: DELL Inspiron 7559

Ethernet Card: RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller

Wifi/BT Card (if available): Intel 3165

What guide/tool followed: I followed the recommended OpenCore Install Guide.

What part I got an issue with: I can boot OpenCore.efi and see the menu with some options (interestingly, Ubuntu is missing, but I can boot straight to Windows) including the installation of the MacOS version on the USB. When selecting the installation option from the menu, the screen turns black and nothing happens. I did make some of the basic required BIOS changes (I was able to disable the CFG lock, confirm that DVMT-prealloc is 64MB (I did try 96MB with no effect, then I tried 128MB with the only effect being that RU.EXE (the utility I'm using to modify BIOS) stopped working so I had to reset BIOS settings), VT-D is disabled, Hyperthreading enabled, I modified some of the other settings mentioned in the OC guide: CSM, SGX, >4GB MMIO BIOS association, EHCI/XHCI Hand-off, basically anything from the list that I could locate. No result. This makes me think that it's not the BIOS configuration that is the issue in my case, although I don't have enough experience to be sure.

I tried a few changes in config, as well as two versions of MacOS (Monterey first, then Big Sur, both downloaded on MacOS), with no difference in the outcome. Below is the log from the latest attempt, all of the logs seem to end on the same line as well, regardless of the version of OS image used.

What files/config I am using: Current State of the EFI Folder , the config.plist is attached below, generated with ProperTree.

Extra Info: The laptop currently has two OSes (Windows 10 and Ubuntu 22.04) on the SSD already, I increased the EFI partition to >200MB And have an empty partition for MacOS ready as well and would like to have all three OSes accessible from one GRUB. I am not sure how to achieve this either, but as things stand I am not able to install MacOS at all, so I don't worry too much about that yet.

Perhaps someone here will be able to identify the issue and point me in the right direction, as I have been stuck on this for a few evenings now, I can't really find any more obvious things to try, and trying random things has limited learning utility.

Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks!

A friend of mine reported success on Big Sur with the EFI from this repo - https://github.com/blacksd/Dell-Inspiron-7559-hackintosh-opencore

Personally never tested it on Monterey but you can give it a try. Good luck! :)

Hello, I have this same laptop model (I just use another wifi card). I'm having this problem too, and I still can't understand what happens, but it only happens in cold boot. On the black screen just restart (CTRL+ALT+DEL) and access OpenCore again and you will get it.
