Big Sur install issue on Z490 - 10900KF

hey all,

I prepped a usb according to Dortania guide, with the only difference being I used MacPro7,1 instead of iMac20,2 since my 10900KF doesn't have an igpu.

I get to the big sur installer screen, and freeze at random points, such as disk utility, during install or right at the beginning. I'm not sure what I could be missing that's freezing the install (have made a few hacks before).
I've also attached my EFI folder. Specs are 10900KF, 32GB DDR4 Ram, Asus ROG Strix Z490-E, Radeon VII

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Disable the DeviceProperty Entry for the Intel I-225 V (put a # in front of it). This (F215…) is for use with the corresponsing I225-V kernel patch in macOS Catalina only to fake an I219 so it can use its driver since Catalina doesn't have drivers for the I225. This is not required in Big Sur anymore since it hase drivers for the I225, so  you can use the real device ID (F315…). A device property entry is not required.
  • Maybe enable DisableIOMapper Quirk for testing.
  • Double-Check if you really need SSDT-RHUB
  • Besides that, I think everything is in order
