wazz up guys!

hey, I can't find a way to get Mac running on my notebook! It have the nForce 410/430 SATA controller and I tried to instal JaS 10.4.6 but it only runs under VMWare (using windows drivers for audio, video, ethernet and IDE/SATA it works perfectly, but SLOOOWW). I tried to edit the AppleVIAATA.kext to make it works nativelly and so I pass throught the "still waiting for root device" message, but it hangs just latter... I think that this driver can't control my SATA hard drive and so it hangs before enter in MacOS GUI... Have a way to make it woking?? 10.4.7 maybe???

thanks for your help!

FYI you can activate nforce 410/430 SATA adding the device ID in the appropriate kext, BUT it will not be reliable, will corrupt datas, and will crash. So it is not possible yet to have it fully working until someone can make a real driver for these SATA controllers.

I also have your same device and same problem (still waiting for root device).

I was looking on the forum and hardware stuff, it seems that the nForce4 controller is VERY similar to the VIA Controller, save for some timer diferences and, as far as I could understand, the nForce4 registers have an offset of 0x10 .... Probally this is causing the corruption of data on nForce4 chipsets....but on nForce 410/430 I couldn't even boot into OSX nativelly (just under VMWare and Windows Controller drivers). Using the AppleVIAATA.kext modified to my deviceID (026610de) is pass throught "Still Waiting for Boot Device" but hangs just latter... I think that OSX can detect and mount my HD using the VIA driver but can't access it, hanging on the first access.... so, until we don't find a way to make a nForce driver (maybe fixing VIA driver??) we will never be abble to bot unto OSX...
