rodge
Is it safe to install things like iTunes Update? Do I need to repatch a new kernel? are the patches different for new kernel versions? in what section does it need to be patched? is it just the firmware fix for the pc bios? Rammjet
Non OS software is usually safe to update. Kernels need to be patched to get rid of Apple specific EFI and hardware independence and encryption. There currently are only two versions of patched kernels: 8.4.1 from 10.4.4 and the new 8.8.1 from 10.4.8. Unlike Linux, you don't need to patch the kernel for everything.
