So long term project turning an XRAID case into a Hackintosh file server is taking shape.

As it will be just a headless machine, I only want to use what's lying around, and that's my trusty old X58A-UD3R + W3680

Followed guide at Dortania to the letter for Nehalem, created SSDT-EC.aml and configured config.plist as per guide.

Guide actually says to remove DSDT.aml but without it I get "CPU 11 has no HPET assigned to it" kernel panic, so I now have it included and can boot the installer.

Now the problem is, whenever the installer get's through phase 1 and reboots, OpenCore can't see the newly created partition on the SSD.

ScanPolicy already 0

AFPS Min Version and Min Date already -1

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

ok thanks for taking the time to do that! Alas I dont think those errors have much to do with my problem.

After seeing a couple of comments elsewhere about this chipset and the version ApfsDriverLoader.efi that is bundled into the current versions of OpenCore not being compatible, I decided to put the old clover ApfsDriverLoader.efi into the EFI and add it to the config.plist

That indeed fixed the problem of OpenCore not being able to find the macOS APFS partitions.

Now however I have a new problem, the "Setup Assistant' app crashes at the network stage.

If choose 'this computer is not connected to the internet' I can continue, but the whole system shuts down regardless after a time.

I think I've read elsewhere in this forum that it may have to do with emulated NVRAM, but I'm not seeing any solutions.

Would anyone with a working x58 / Xeon combo running OpenCore care to lend any tips?
