Syhor Horim
Hi. I'm a new OS X user. I've installed the 10.4.8 version and, after looong tries with guides founded in this forum, audio doesn't work. Network doesn't work too. It says "cable not connected!" [wtf?] and in System Profiler I can see the eth card completely. What can I do? Specifics: Mac OS X 10.4.8 Asus M2NPV-MX [with AMD Athlon64 3500+] - chipset GeForce 6150 SoundMax ADI1986 nVidia GeForce 6200 TC HD Maxtor 20Gb ATA + HD Maxtor 250Gb ATA PS. I'm a Linux User and I don't want to use Windoze. If I can't have OS X, I'll return to Linux. PPS. I'm italian, so sorry if I made some errors, I can't speak english very well. :°D Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34929-asus-m2npv-mx/ Share on other sites

waire
Up. :/ Hi, Could you please tell how you got OSX working on this setup? I had no luck so far with an m2npv-vm board, which is basically the same thing as yours. Which dvd release did you use? (jas 10.4.8 beta2, with or without ppf.1 patch, vmware or dvd install etc.). Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34929-asus-m2npv-mx/#findComment-314727 Share on other sites
conrad
Yes, I too would like to know some details on how you got this running. I'm on m2npv-vm too, which is almost the same...having planty of troubles with the 10.4.8 jas in its various states, finally got it to get past "waiting for root device" by switching HD to ide 1 master and putting dvd on ide2, but kernel panic shortly after. Have got the early deadmoo to at least boot ok, from a hard drive I had from a year ago...no network though! waire
up there are some who had success with installing OSX on the m2npv board, a little help would be really great. which release was used, how the installation was done (dvd, vmware), what packages were chosen, things like that. thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34929-asus-m2npv-mx/#findComment-316135 Share on other sites
waire
up there are some who had success with installing OSX on the m2npv board, a little help would be really great. which release was used, how the installation was done (dvd, vmware), what packages were chosen, things like that. thanks I reply to myself. It's working now: I used the JaS 10.4.8 sse2 sse3 beta2 dvd that I patched with the ppf1. Installed through VMWare Workstation 5.5 to a physical disk. Only selected the amd patches (3800+ X2) It booted up fine in vmware after the installation, but when trying native boot I got the HFS+ partition error. Hiren's boot cd has a partition manager program (can't recall its name..) that I used to change the partition type back to 0xaf and mark it active. (it got screwed up somehow) After reboot osx booted and is working pretty well, I'm typing from there. Ah both cpu cores are working, although system profiler says there's only one. Activity Monitor displays both cores and iTunes creates mp3's blazing fast. Firewire and usb are working, even the extra connections on the mainboard. No onboard LAN, I use an old realtek fast ethernet card - it worked without changing or setting up anything. No QE/CI with the onboard graphics (nvidia 6150). My POD XT Live pedal (if anyone's into guitar stuff) is working fine, I d/l-d the driver from line6 and it's all good. conrad
Thanks for posting back Waire, thats encouraging. I'd almost given up on 10.4.8. and decided to wait another 6 months or so, till all the different versions and ppf's had simplified, but now feel up to giving it another go! I Think I'll download a new Jas, as my current ppf'd one was giving "error during install" just at the end, even in vmware 5.5, but once I've get a fresh one I'll give your method a shot...and yes guitar stuff my bag too...looking forward to seeing if I can get Tascam fw1884 going as I'd already noticed the firewire get properly detected during boot...maybe even a return to logic beckons! There's a good chance for your 1884 to work I think. External devices usually work as I gathered, if there's mac support obviously. I've given Logic express a quick try, seems to work without problems, but I only recorded a couple of tracks so no info about how biggy AU stuff performs. me_ankit
Hello Horim, i have the same motherboard, after many tries i found that the azalia audio installer package works perfect with 2 channel audio, it can be found if u search in these forums. BTW can u get ur onboard GPU working(i cant)??? Good Luck and Thanks Hello Waire, for me - AMD 3200 AM2 64bit, M2NPV-MX I could only get it working with the 10.4.8 Jas realease beta 2 + PPF1 Patch + the defiant's Disk utility patch. conrad
Well, its been a long an arduous journey...and still no joy! Gott a new 10.4.8. jas pre ppf'd with all latest patches. Eventually managed to get it installed on vmware (unfortunately didn't select for physical hard drive to be independent and persistent, so trashed the hard drive at the end of the first install, and learnt a little bit about the tedium of low level formatting etc!). Any way now it boots fine in vmware...but no joy when booting pc from hard drive...just "wating for rootdevice" checked to see if was 0xaf issue waire had, but all seems fine, have tried rd=disk0s1 and -x as boot options to no avail... oh well, will have a dig around, but such a common failure point for a lot of people its hard to know the way forward...any clues as to where to go next gladly appreciated. AMD 3600 x2, M2NPV-VM, nvidia 7600GS, attempting to run from hardrive on ide1 as master, cd/dvd on ide2.
