After going through many installs, mainly by trial and error, i have got my hackintosh usable.

CPU = Pentium D 805 ( running at 3.10 )

Mobo = Asrock 775i945GZ

RAM = 1 Gig DDR2-667

Video Card = Geforce 6500

HD = ATA 80 Gig Samsung

DVDRW Drive = Sony 16X Dual Layer DVDRW Drive

Installed Jas 10.4.8 Intel SSE3 reseed DVD, checked the 10.4.8 update, Azalia fix, and login window fix. Then installed Natit 1.0 installer, got Geforce 6500 working with full QE and CE. Installed IONetworkingfamily.kext from 10.4.3. Got RTL 8139 built-in ethernet working. Followed the ALC 8x guide, got the built-in ALC888 working.

BTW, Natit won't ( got a blank screen ) work if i check/install the semthex or mifki kernel on the DVD.

Running 2 core gets me extremely choppy performance, and I couldnt get any kind of video to play at all. After editing com.apple.Boot.plist and disabling 1 cpu core ( cpus=1 ), performance was snappy and OSX10.4.8 was stable.

Only 1 issue, and it's that i can't watch anything on VLC, video plays fine, but audio is extremely choppy.

Any suggestions?

Mike

For ALC888 audio, check out the following thread for efforts to improve sound output/input on Realtek audio chipsets. May have to read through the posts to find ALC888 files. Start at end and work forward: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=32859

Good to know about Natit. Think a lot of people suffer this problem.

Try moving/deleting AppleHWSensor.kext.

Dunno if this will help you, but it fixed my audio/video jitters in vlc, and may be useful anyway...

I simply upgraded to one of the nightly intel builds from:

http://nightlies.videolan.org/

(I'm running 8.8.1 semthex with natit, btw)

;)

also have same problems with audio in VLC....

in latest versions (downloaded just 2 days ago - build from 2 dec) too....

p.s. external USB audio (Native Instrument Audio Kontrol 1) with it's own drivers... and latests daemonES / mifki kernel

does anyone know a difference of branch and trunk versions ?

:huh:

It worked for me too.

10.4.8 / 8.8.1 / mifki / natit

hello,

just an update on my choppy audio problem.

It's solved!

I used the kernel upgrade script and upgraded to the latest semthex kernel. audio playback is silky smooth now.

Still can't say about the dual core issue, i had to change my processor to a celeron 2.66 ( which kinda blows ). Will report on the dual core issue after i get a dual core proc.
