psionic68
Finally got 10.4.8 (Jas Reseed) with Semthex kernel working on this laptop. After lots of head scratching. The solution turned out to be very simple. Just delete IOPCCardFamily.kext PC Cards never have or will work on this machine because of a non-standard CardBus Controller chipset anyway. I used to get IOPCCardBridge errors when I used to try and boot the new kernel and could not boot into the GUI. Anyway just deleting the offending kext solved the problem and now have loaded Titan and have Full QE/CI for the first time on my Hackintosh ! Just thought I'd share my finding - in case there is someone else out there with a similar problem. psionic68
Just realised that my WiFI (broadcom) has just stopped working since 10.4.8. Has anybody got WiFi working on 10.4.8 (Semthex kernel) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34767-hp-pavillion-zd7000-now-working-with-1048/#findComment-246844 Share on other sites

psionic68
Thanks Rammjet - I tried that and the best I managed to achieve was an empty diamond with no waves in it. As a desperate measure i reinstalled 10.4.8 and modified IO80211Family.kext before I booted 10.4.8 and it did manage to find my wireless net and connected successfully despite still displaying an empty diamond icon. But I lost my connection after rebooting, and have not managed to connect again. Is there something I have done wrong? Obviously my hardware has been recognised (at least once). And it works fine on 10.4.7 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34767-hp-pavillion-zd7000-now-working-with-1048/#findComment-247137 Share on other sites

rlith
Having problems with this notebook myself, I've used the jas 10.4.6 iso as well as the 10.4.5 universal iso, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but after installation, it starts to boot normally then it keeps repeating a particular line (can't tell what it is) self reboots and starts the same thing all over again. Any tips or how-to's you have to install on this particular laptop would be appreciated.. Thanx! psionic68
There are various versions of this laptop. What CPU are you using? Personally I had no problems with versions prior to 10.4.8 by using the Jas and Myz versions of the install disks. Also what Customize options are you using when installing? uNtouched
Psionic68, I haven't been on the forum in a few days....hell maybe even a week or 2...I could have filled you in on getting it to run on your ZD7k as that's the same thing I have, full grapics (with titan not natit) and everything, it feels like I have a real mac. Now if I could somehow I could find a case to throw the internals of this into to make it look better.... psionic68
I agree uNtouched this laptop is fine as a Hackintosh - only real problem is the poor battery life - oh well can't have everything I suppose Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/34767-hp-pavillion-zd7000-now-working-with-1048/#findComment-252520 Share on other sites

psionic68
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. You should have no problem with 10.4.6 with your specs on this laptop. What options are you using when you install. ie when you click the customize button? avara
Please, someone post a step by step solution how to get the darn nVidia work with Titan on this laptop. I have a ZD7000 too, but still running it at 1024x768 on a 17" screen and that sucks. No hardware acceleration either. Do I need to delete some of the kext files before installing Titan? Otherwise it runs the Uphuck OS X 10.4.9 v1.4 great. Thanks. pacis
The Go 5600 is not working on this machine as of yet (i.e. with full QE/CI support on the internal screen). However, with the NVidiaEFI.kext an external monitor is supported with QE/CI. The internal monitor on my ZD7000 displays a black vertical line every other column. It's like the entire column of pixels in every other column is not lighting up. I'm really hoping that someone can come up with a fix for this, otherwise I'm looking at purchasing a more compatible laptop. It's a shame because pretty much everything else works on it.
