Axethrower
Well, you have more luck than me. I have the same PC but I even can't install. Not with the Jas 10.4.7 or the 10.4.8 SSE3 It just reboots after a few seconds. I tried the -v -cpus=1 platform=X86PC options I disabled CPUID MAXVAL in the BIOS ... No luck Did you change something in your BIOS? What are your boot options? Thanks
Rammjet
When you boot with -v, what messages do you see before it restarts? You can try using VMWare in Windows to install to your hard drive. You don't need VMWare after installation: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=11314
Axethrower
If I boot with the -v option I only get about 4 "loading xxx " lines and then a reboot. I tried different settings in my BIOS but no luck.
triofour
hi Axethrower, first thing: i wasnt able to install it on the sata hd! i replaced the cd-rom with an ide-hd. then it worked fine. but startup worked just one time after install (as described). so i put the -f flag into the boot list. see http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...he_boot_options everything works except: sound restart function sleep modus some informations in system profiler onboard-ethernet regards mathias
Axethrower
Hi Trifour, Wich packages did you select at "custom"? I have a IDE drive in the PC now but still no luck. I can now install but it doesn't work after a reboot. Still waiting for root device... Greetz Axethrower
triofour
hi! so as i have told you - i succesfully installed tiger on my ide drive with: 10.4.8 combo update semthex kernel drivers for via ATA support when you startup, you have to press F8. the type -f. otherwise startup stops with some message like "waiting for devices".... but now i already have succed with insatlling on a partition on my SATA drive!!! you need to choose AHCI in BIOS (periphals-->sata/IDE ctrl mode) instead of IDE. then you can access your SATA HD while installation! with acronis os chooser it works - without you will get a HFS+ partition error! although its a primary and active partition... maybe you will try it also on your SATA drive - so tell me whats your experiences... tiger on my IDE runs very stabile. sometimes tiger on my SATA hd dont startup sometimes it do - and chrashes more often - dont know whats the problem. maybe the AppleVIAATA.kext works not smoothly.... does anybody have an idea what to do...when it hangs at startup on my SATA, it often stops at a blue screen with mouse cursor available at a very low resolution. when i startup with -v shortly before it stops, there is a message with: kextd_watch_volumes diskarb not ready.... then the blue screen appears.... regards triofour
Axethrower
Thanks Triofour, I will try to install my 10.4.8 later and also on the SATA. Some info about diskarb I found here click Maybe this will help. Isn't there a possibility to change the topic to : Medion 8818 installations problems ? Greetz Axethrower UPDATE : Installation on IDE works !! The -f option did the job! Now I go for sound and video I installes USB 2 update and usb doesn't work anymore so next time I don't install this Edited December 17, 2006 by Axethrower

Axethrower
Still no luck running the new kernel Repair permissions didn't change it Which install/changes did you do? I have the JAS10.4.8 SSE3 install and didn't do any updates. Did you use a combo update or somehting? greetz Edited December 24, 2006 by Axethrower
triofour
hi! so i already had the newest kernel running - then my hackintosh went in sleep modus. so i had to reset, since that point i've the sam problem as you. dont know what to do....starting the old kernel works. reinstall the new kernel didnt fix it.... so my config at install was: combo update 10.4.8, semthex kernel, and via SATA kext another question: how did you install/configure the driver for the via rhine II adapter. when i try to run with the sh-script, it always crashes my complete system.... triofour
