I'm trying to run OC-Gen-X but the application crashes as soon as I try to start it.

From another thread, thanks to @MacUser2525

Thanks a lovely tool to use, though I was a little perplexed by the Russian locale for the installer until I sorted the bug for it. With both the version for 0.6.3 and .4 of the Open Core it sets it as the default. The config.plist produced needs to be edited to look like this for the the prev-lang:kbd variable, which is the eng:US locale or language. In this example I have the SIP disabled with its setting as well.

<key>7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82</key>
            <dict>
                <key>SystemAudioVolume</key>
                <data>
                Rg==
                </data>
                <key>boot-args</key>
                <string>-v keepsyms=1  alcid=1</string>
                <key>csr-active-config</key>
                <data>5wMAAA==</data>
                <key>prev-lang:kbd</key>
                <data>ZW4tVVM6MA==</data>
                <key>run-efi-updater</key>
                <string>No</string>
            </dict>

I understand I have to create a config.plist file somewhere, just can't figure out where. Already wasted too much time on this :wallbash:

Ant help appreciated, thanks

The config.plist is created when you run the program the OC-Gen-X, it creates a generic file for you in the EFI folder it creates on the desktop. You copy this folder to the first tiny partition on your boot drive and it enables you to boot.  In this EFI folder is an OC directory which contains the config.plist. In that file you need to find the section mentioned and change the  prev-lang:kbd to the value  already there to what you see ( the ZW4...) to that I posted to have an US English language boot instead of Russian, the developers language.

Haa.. ok. so I'm no where near that yet. OC-Gen-X is crashing as soon as I launch it. This is in a fresh vanilla macOS install on virtualbox, meaning not a vmdk someone built.

Can you confirm which mac version you tried OC-Gen-X successfully?

Can you confirm you tried it in VirtualBox, not a hackintosh or native install?
