rathalos
Hi people, any one with problem with Jas SSE2 10.4.8 Combo update and playing WC3?? WC3 crashes immediately after opening. Apparently, this happens also when i try to run a powerpoint presentation. running normal rosetta apps are fine (ie word, excel), just those that have to do with full screen or opengl. btw, i'm using 10.4.8 opengl framework with 10.4.8 ATIRadeon9700.kext ripped from the official 10.4.8 combo installer. tried update_prebinding -root / -force, does not work at all... HELP!!!
cyclonefr
"btw, i'm using 10.4.8 opengl framework with 10.4.8 ATIRadeon9700.kext ripped from the official 10.4.8 combo installer." You answered to your own problem : you do need the 10.4.8 kernel if you wanna use those, else you are stuck (like now). And as a SSE2 user, you can't use for now the new one. Stay away from the new drivers. Anyway WC3 is pretty slow with Rosetta, even on a SSE3 processor. The best way to play this game is running the Windows version via Crossover running the -opengl command.

rathalos
ok, cyclone... hmm... then do u know the problem of slow 3d acceleration? like 1 game second = 4 real life seconds? cos when i run 3d games, initially, it is fine, then after a short while, it just slows down.... but if i alt-tab out and wait for a while, say 6s, then i go back, its normal again... then after a while, it slows donw again.... any ideas? cyclonefr
Didn't experience that bug, it might be due to the poor AGP support in OSX (ie, none). You can't do anything against it, except waiting for Joblo to make a driver...
rathalos
ok, basically semthex's 8.8.1 beta9 kernel fixed the problems... apparently, i cant use 10.4.8 opengl and kext at all with rosetta... even if i'm on the latest kernel.... they dun go on together well... used 10.4.6 kexts and opengl, and viola, wc3 plays really well.... previous slowness was due to fsb being reported wrongly... its corrected in beta9 kernel...
